Oil boiler in new build, do I have to have solar panels for an EPC

We planned our new house with solar panels on the garage roof. We changed our minds about the solar panels but now we are told that we have to have them to get an EPC rating as we have an oil fired boiler. The house has been built to the highest standard of efficiency in all other ways. Are we forced to have these panels?

I would suggest that the claim that you need solar panels to get an EPC rating is complete rubbish. Plenty of EPCs done up & down the country on properties without solar panels. To get the EPC rating that you want may require solar panels to gain a few points on the computer. Or it could be a requirement of planning - Have you had the build signed off yet ?Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0
