Switch Oil to LPG?

propane produces around 7kwh per litre and oil is 10.35 kwh per litre so dont compare cost per litre but costs per kwh. Based on the figures quoted above lpg at 38p/l = 5.43p/kwh compared with oil at 54p/l +5% = 5..48p/kwh. Bear in mind that you might also end up having to pay a tank rental charge.
An air source heat pump is likely to give you an SCOP of around 3, so with leccy at around 21p per kwh heating with an ASHP will cost you around 7p/kwh but who knows what is going to happen with the price of oil, lpg or leccy over the next few years.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

... Would be great to go down the air or ground source heat pumps but very expensive installation and house prob not well enough insulated to really benefit.Reed0
