  • Good Day one and all...

I have got a heads up on how much I am being paid this week - so fingers crossed I should be able to put away £60 for the car insurance.

Another 2 weeks to go and I should get another £100...(Insurance due on 8th March)....... £25 per week is automatically put away for the car fund anyway and  plus another OT shift that should give me £50 extra.

Which means I am at a deficit of at least £135 (going by last years payment) but that will be clawed back in the week that payment will be made (I get paid every Friday / insurance due the Wednesday.....phew) so another £25 at least but I might put petrol money (£20) and food money (£20) to that also which is £95. So another £40 to go and that can sit there until the following week.

That will leave £23.34 for a food shop this week - more than enough. I just want vegetables / fruit / one can of tinned fruit for the long term cupboard... :D.. and porridge oats.

I have websites that I get my bulk food from - they all have sales on at the moment. So I am ritualistically filling my baskets and just leaving them there... :D:D:D

I tried to get through to the Dr yesterday - was 12th in the queue after calling exactly at 9am. I gave up. Will try again on Tuesday when I am starting later at work. Sometimes its a 45 minute wait.

I am going to re-hash all my fund to separate them - after I finish going hell for leather at the emergency fund. Good plan!

    Pay rise agreed.  B)

    An extra £1.20 an hour.

Backdated to when I requested it in October.

Roughly £600. To be paid in £200 instalments over the next 3 weeks to avoid tax and to "fly under the radar".

I will relax when I have it in my bank account.

    Phew!

    Good Morning All.

First things first. I went over food budget last Friday. So Annoyed. Supposed to stick with £23.34. Spent £32.79. Mother gave me £5. So technically it was £27.79 and only £4.45 over budget.

BUT I AM STILL SO ANNOYED AT MYSELF... :D:D:D:disappointed:

Then I remember when I had my dizzy spell mother sent me £10 to buy snacks.. I didn't as I had made enough snacks...(penny pinchers daughter here!) so I have £15 in my wallet.

I put this all on my spread sheet and can't seem to account for £0.63p. Doing my head in.. :disappointed:

Anyhoo.... I received an extra £200 in my payslip plus the pay rise. I need to sit and figure out how much is my actual pay rise and how much is rebate as I don't want them mixing.

This is going into my Birthday Fund. My friend says spend it with the £1000 I had planned - not sure yet. Its a massive chunk of my sink funds.

    Thoughts?

I still have yet to purchase new car insurance, so moving forward as normal..... pennies being scraped together.

Also sold another £24.99 item on Vinted. This is going to stock and shares ISA with Moneybox. I have £35 in there so far.. B)

    Good day.

I write now to keep myself on track. I think I bored you all away...

Car insurance purchased this evening. £36 cash back. Sub £300 again. Phew.....£211.52 in cash collated already. Another £87.44 will be located this week..(no food shop again) somehow....lol.

The cash back will go to the car fund which needs to start building again considering my total expenditure on my little darling Polo stands at a beautiful £1439.26.. :-)

    £3800 in long term savings.

£1000 moved out to Birthday Account as planned.
Turns out £1K doesn't stretch THAT far........

Will hit £4000 this Friday, £5000 on the 14th April while I am on annual leave and £6000 on the 19th May. I have a spreadsheet....lol!

    Then I will regroup.

£600 rebate from work will be complete this week. Not sure what to do with this....but I will then get an idea of what my new basic income is after the increase in wage. I will then do more calculations.

Am considering the fact this rate of saving is not sustainable but where I can do it for the entire year. This would give me £12,200 in savings. £3000 will be dedicated to sink funds so I can get ahead of the game soon.. I am literally living on peanuts, not spending money on travel even for free hobbies like a hike and this is affecting my brain and self worth.. I have no life outside work right now.

I will be focusing on getting out more on my days off and having a fun fund. I have never seen the need for fun for the sake of it. So I am making a list of things that I want to do - that I think is fun - and will hopefully do one thing a month at least.

Free-diving is one aspect of fun I want to do... its holding your breath and diving without a tank. I love wild swimming and want to make it a priority this year...so I am going to use £140 and petrol money from my rebate to do a professional course so i don't drown...lol.. then also use my camping equipment and go stay somewhere for the night as I will be a 4 hour round trip from home..

I have a map of Ireland with all the open water swim spots.. there are 300. So I will try and tick them all off. Check out the Salty Sea Sisters if your tempted to try..

    NSK.

Congratulations securing the rise! Perhaps split the money between fun, emergency, car, short and long term plans.

Hopefully as the weather picks up, day trips and adventures will start popping into your head.

What idea have you decided for your birthday?

You're right.. I will bank £400 though. Get that Emer fund funded asap.

I booked a helicopter flight lesson.

4 days in Edinburgh (lodging in a pod hostel at my age)..

From Edinburgh I'll take the train to London..I like trains... staying with friends and walking the old haunts I used to visit when I lived there.

I can spend hours in the bookshops in Piccadilly.  Japanese Shop and dinner with the girls on my actual birthday.

Then home and probably an overnight stay near the free diving school.. with Parentals and brother in tow as we love our own little country and exploring and eating treacle farls and soda bread..lol.

    Good day.

🤣 not bored at all, just busy 😁

Your focus is admirable but I do think you should definitely indulge in more fun stuff, especially if you have hobbies that are free. As MF says, maybe the better weather will inspire you more.

Your birthday plans sound great 🙂

Sounds absolutely delightful and the pods are a little different. Take a spare big bag with you for all the goodies up here and during the London excursions.
