Huge panic, Amazon order shows as delivered - handed to resident but not arrived

And Amazon just tell me it must be a scanning error and wait 2 days (not to investigate but say its the maximum time allowed for delivery)
Got 2 emails this morning saying out for delivery - it was a large item and a smaller parcel part of 1 order
Amazon claims the courier must of got confused and scanned wrong label, but 2 labels I am doubting.
Rather than chase it up they tell me to wait 2 days to see if it will still turn up!

Don't worry, they often turn up later in the day or the next day. Of all the companies to have a missing parcel with, Amazon are the best. They always resolve it quickly in my experience1

It's a bit early to be panicking. Leave it the two days they suggest and take it from there.1

Check with your neighbours and any other "safe place"... we constantly get "left with receptionist" which for most the buildings around us it makes sense as they have concierge services but we don't and 90% of the time instead its with our neighbour to the left as he always WFH (have had jokes about his unofficial role as our receptionist)
Guess the guys round our area are so used to selecting that option they do it without thinking when leaving it elsewhere... even had it when they've posted things through the letterbox.0 -
Got it, turns out they dumped it into my neighbours garden and marked it as delivered AND handed to resident.I get on with my neighbour well and so was lucky as another neighbour takes and deals drugs! The more annoying thing is that I was in the house at the time of delivery and no one rang buzzer0

One of my neighbours has security camera footage of an Amazon delivery driver pulling up and lobbing theit parcel into the front garden. Online shopping while convenient is simply far too often a lot of time consuming hassle. Better to go to a shop in person. Hardly surprising that Amazon themselves are returning to bricks and mortar stores.dekaspace1 said:Got it, turns out they dumped it into my neighbours garden and marked it as delivered AND handed to resident.1 -
Returning? I know they have had their popup shops that they pulled out of but that is somewhat the nature of popups plus its been since 2015 so in their 7th year it feels a bit long to say they are returning to it even if there was something earlier that they stopped that I'm not aware ofThrugelmir said:

Thankfully Amazon acknowledges its a retailer rather than purely a tech company (unlike some other companies) but they're still disruptors and none of their physical stores to date feel like a major/committed entry into the space (excluding Wholefoods which was an acquisition anyway)... will there really be a cashierless Amazon Go convenience store on every street corner or will they just sell their tech to Coop and Tesco Metro etc0 -
Although if it was left in your neighbours garden, presumably they also knocked on your neighbours door.dekaspace1 said:The more annoying thing is that I was in the house at the time of delivery and no one rang buzzer
Presumably you do have a clear house number that's visible to drivers from the road? You'd be surprised how many houses don't.1 -
When I say their garden its a block of flats and I am on the ground floor and flats on the ground floor have their own front private garden the put courier in middle of garden with a somewhat busy road and a school nearby and a lot of undesirables.

Perhaps the schoolchildren and "undesirables" aren't as dishonest as you think they are, given that your parcel sat in the middle of the garden in public view for up to seven hours.dekaspace1 said:When I say their garden its a block of flats and I am on the ground floor and flats on the ground floor have their own front private garden the put courier in middle of garden with a somewhat busy road and a school nearby and a lot of undesirables.
Unfortunately, delivery companies aren't hanging about these days, so if you want your parcels to be physically handed to you, you need to choose a retailer and courier company and service that does that.2 -
So it was in plain view, you were missing a parcel and didnt think to check what that box in the middle of the lawn was? Even if its just as a good neighbour to stop someone else's parcel being taken by these undesirables?dekaspace1 said:When I say their garden its a block of flats and I am on the ground floor and flats on the ground floor have their own front private garden the put courier in middle of garden with a somewhat busy road and a school nearby and a lot of undesirables.
We live on a busy road with a front garden of just a few feet before the pavement and not far from a bus stop. Delivery companies do fairly often just leave parcels propped up against the front door but thankfully to date none have ever gone missing. It does however amuse me when they put a large box on the doorstep and then place the doormat on top... as if that somehow hides a 50cm high box.1
