    Get well soon!

We're away next week too and I had a look through the fridge to use things up. Various oddments (pie, soup, tuna) have been finished over the last couple of days. This evening I had a concoction of fried mushrooms with garlic, the remains of a bag of frozen cauliflower cheese, some parmesan, smoked bacon and a dash of red wine. Amazingly, I feel I have Discovered Something because it was very tasty.

Some 'cooking bacon' has been portioned up and put in the freezer, and there are four pieces of (discounted) salmon in the fridge for this weekend/freezer.

Still some baking potatoes, carrots, peppers, garlic, pumpkin and butternut squash that won't last till we get home, so tomorrow I need to get cooking. Roast veg freezes well. :)

In: 2 packs of ys M&S bagels, 1 of apple hot x buns, breaded fish, 2 x chicken thighs, 2 bags of damsons from MIL's freezer

Out: steak, chicken, 2 x salmon, granary loaf, small squash & chickpea curry (to be used for lunches)

The salmon was definitely a senior moment - was at the outside freezer looking for something - next day OH came in to say he had found 'these' on his workbench - 'these' being 2 tupperware containers of salmon fillets. Fortunately the weather was fairly wintry still, so they were both fine but we had to have salmon twice in quick succession!

The salmon wraps we improvised were actually rather nice, and have now been added to our repertoire. Silver linings etc etc...

I was walking through Ald1s deciding on what to get for dinner. Could not justify the spend of a ready meal, considering i have noodles, stirfry veg and goyza in freezer. 10min and dinner done.
In: pack lemons, was planning on making limoncello, will have to wait till back from hols.
Out: handful cooked white beans, handful peas, half pack chicken fajita mix, 2 frankfurters. All mixed in stirfry for lunch

Oh no, that’s such a shame! How do you feel?

Two portions of salmon now frozen and the others eaten. Had to throw out 2 swedes, a small pumpkin and half a butternut squash that were beyond eating (sorry :( ) but roasted the rest of the squash, carrots, peppers and baking potatoes with some garlic, ate about half and froze the rest.

A few items - milk, bacon and pate - were donated to our daughter and son in law, as they won’t keep till we get back. The fridge is satisfactorily low on ‘need to use’ items: what’s in there is, apart from some celery, the sort of stuff that lives in bottles and tubs for quite a while so I’m hoping for a fresh start when we get home.
