Tomorrow I'll be liberating space in the freezer by pulling out the remains of a couple of roast chickens - added to our Xmas bird snd the leftover gravy to produce bone broth.
Some of the broth to be turned into soup for lunch abd the remainder portioned up and stored back in the freezer for cooking stews, risotto and using for the base of cream of root veg soup.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I've been away over Christmas and am back with parcels of leftovers from my relatives and my own stash of too much stuff to work through. After a horrible drive back yesterday which basically took all day we had instant spicy noodles for tea with added leek, mushroom and kale from the fridge (all of which needed using pronto) and some leftover turkey for DH.
This morning I opened a tin of apricots from the zombie apocalypse stash to have with yoghurt & oats for brekkie (tin a mere 5 years OOD 😂). I've nearly got to the end of the old tins of fruit now, only a couple more left and then I'll l be back into sane territory with my tinned fruit supplies i.e. just a couple of cans of in date fruit that I use regularly. Just all the rest of the stuff to work on then...

Can I join back in please? I have joined a couple of times and didn't post because it was all very boring (what I was eating not the thread!) but I've found that posting regularly on other threads does keep me a little bit accountable. The freezer is ridiculously full - again. My main weakness is reduced/bargain meat. I know that it saves me money in the long run but I can't resist a bargain and buy things at a quicker rate than we can eat them. So I am at the point, once again, where the freezer will hardly shut and removing anything risks a small avalanche. However, I am so sick of going to the shops that I will happily eat out of the freezer for as long as I can to avoid going. So I am planning to eat as much as I can in the coming month and try to save some money at the same time. I will do a freezer inventory before new year so that I am ready to go! Tonight two chicken breasts came out to eat with some salad in wraps.7

We had another superb Christmas dinner today courtesy of family, so our stocks are much as they were yesterday. Just to keep me on track and in case it's useful to anyone else who has three jugs of carrots in water trying to keep fresh, here's what I intend to cook tomorrow:

Three to start with:- giant yorkies filled with chicken/chicken gravy, veg.

Well done for doing an inventory @Changeyourlife25! It's a painful job but so worth it. Now you're in control. My top tip would be to pin a copy to the front of the freezer and cross things off as you use them up. It gives you a real sense of achievement.
We're still on Xmas use-up here. Yesterday DH & DS had leftover gammon with homemade potato & sweet potato chips plus roasted cauliflower and I had the same but with some "schicken" kebabs from the freezer instead of the ham. I've got some shopping arriving today and I ordered a tikka masala sauce so we can use up leftover turkey for DS & DH. I might use it to make a veg curry for us all and then add in the turkey for them when serving or I might just grab a tub of Dal from the freezer for me. I always seem to have plenty of Dal in the freezer. I'll make some naan to go with it.

Today I have had leftovers for dinner and made stock from the carcass. Also tidied remaining leftovers into smaller tubs so I could fit the cake into the fridge (was in garage fridge) DS1 and his gf had leftovers for lunch in wraps and then chunks of leftover gammon in their pasta for dinner. DH has a leftovers sandwich too, so progress is being made. No visits to food shops made (well, we had breakfast out - but we were away in London last night) - did buy DS2 a pair of jeans but it's his bday next week, so he can have them then as part of his present 😁I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £203
