Two pieces of chicken from the freezer and a bag of mushrooms - chicken chasseur for two day for DH. I made it then didn't fancy it so I had baked potato with coronation chick peas. Also another two eggs and some cheese and veg made into an omelette for lunch.

I've bought more instant mash, chick peas, tartare sauce, oats and I can't think what else to replenish stores.

Beef mince from the freezer with onion, celery, carrot, broccoli, some corn cut off a cob, the last of the cauliflower, runner beans, and red pepper, the end of a courgette, and cabbage, for mince and vegetables. The fridge is looking emptier.

While I was preparing vegetables I used up some large parsnips, with onion, celery and apple, some red lentils, a bit of rapeseed oil to sauté them, and stock from Marigold powder for a pan of thick blitzed soup.

The tin of green lentils (best before some time in 2021) was turned into soup for dinner and absolutely delicious, curry powder, cumin, coriander, garlic, two carrots, a leek and some water and the tin of green lentils and blended and yummy.  Tried a professional swirl of yoghurt but that looked dreadful :)  Served with bread from the bread maker and butter and delicious.

Still only buying fresh veg and diary.  Need some eggs tomorrow too as the mountain of SR flour could maybe be used up for cake making.   A Victoria Sponge can't be too difficult can it ?  (off to google)

Victoria sponge is easy, @Watty1. Equal weights of each ingredient and whisk thoroughly. Apparently. In this house they are made by DH who is better at them than I am.

Yesterday was busy, busy, busy so we got a takeaway, and today was DH's birthday so we ate out at lunch and had a family pizza party for tea. There's some salad and baked beans left to eat. Cake, pizzas and garlic bread demolished.

I had red chillies and cherry tomatoes on discount so those are in the freezer and there are lots of eggs still to use up despite some omelettes last week.

No idea what's for dinner tomorrow: our resilience ran out after preparing for today. Possibly tuna pasta as that's store cupboard, quick and easy.

thanks @Cherryfudge I am trying to cut down or out refined sugar so I made mine with honey eggs butter and flour and some fresh cream whipped up.  It is still too sweet for me but the boyfriend (Very Nice Man VNM for short) loved it.

Interestingly the VNM asked at lunch if we were ok for money as the food lately has been "delicious"  and he wanted to check he was contributing "enough" whereas actually this cupboards purge has meant a bonus (I will use for restocking)

The curried green lentil soup was really nice with bread from the bread maker and enough for lunch today followed by Victoria Sponge and coffee.   This evening is a cod stew mainly made in the slow cooker served with ciabatta bread from freezer.   The inspiration was an online recipe because it has capers in and I have two jars of those !

I think I've said it before @Watty1, but I'm in the queue should you ever decide to publish a cookery book!

We had our tuna pasta for lunch and I can see I need a clear out of several fridge items as some are going past it. DH was given a curry spice mixture for his birthday so that may possibly be on the menu soon.

Goodness no @Cherryfudge mostly my cooking takes inspiration from the web and then just misses out what I don't have or replaces with something that is near enough.     Todays sugar free cake was somewhat flat - I think the original author made one up and then paled at the amounts needed to make a real sized cake LOL  I am going to ask my neighbour who does a lot of baking why my cake did not rise.

Unless anyone here knows ?   (I used Self raising white flour).

Although @Cherryfudge you have triggered an idea which I am filing away (around a kitchen book yes).

How old was the SR flour?  @Watty1 The raising agent can go stale.

I looked at the frozen blueberries and frozen peas and green beans at Aldi. Good value for money.
I am determined use up a whole drawer of the freezer to make room. I could cook and freeze some pulses too.

I've been away for a week so I've not achieved any reduction in stores myself but I've been enjoying reading how everyone else is doing.

@Watty1 another suggestion for using up self raising flour is naan bread. I make it regularly using this recipe -

Mix 250g of SR flour with 1tsp dried yeast and 1tsp salt in a large bowl. Add 3 tbsp live natural yoghurt and 6 tbsp warm water and knead for about 5 mins.
Leave in a warm place for an hour then roll out into 2 large naans and cook one at a time under a hot grill for a couple of minutes each side until it puffs up and slightly browns. I put on foil on the grill pan to stop it sticking. Brush when a bit of butter and it's good to go.

I'll either be doing a freezer dive for tea tonight or having takeaway if DH makes me feel sorry enough for him as he's grimacing through back pain and having to go to his home office and do some extra work this afternoon/evening.
