I strongly question whether you need to clean the ovens.... mine have been done once since 2018 when they were new. The heat killls any germs.... and life is too short!

I know what you mean about paying the mortgage off and not having more money, but there is a difference - although I feel guilty that I'm spending/wanting to spend it all on travelling - and yet, like you, we spent plenty of time not spending on these things to get the mortgage clear (albeit, the not spending wasn't hair-shirt based). But this is spending in line with your values, so enjoy it!

Personally, I am loving the fact that my new oven is still gleaming purely due to the fact I've not cooked any meat in it 😀

That’s strange I’ve lost a huge post from this morning 😳

Oh dear Cornish mum that’s not good timing! Well I’ve cleaned the ovens today (and nearly all of the kitchen cupboards) what a job I’m shattered! They certainly needed it 🙄

It’s been a busy few days, I got a bit overtired Friday and ended up feeling sorry for myself and blubbing, dh was a bit surprised as I’m not usually like that, however he did some diy jobs after work Sunday which were on the Xmas hit list, I’ll have to cry more often if that’s the result 😂 I also managed to locate all the Xmas toot we use, thousands of glasses, cheese knives etc. and it’s all washed and ready in the new huge cabinet we got on the regifting site a few months ago, it’s come in very handy. Also I managed to pack everything bar the clothes and medicine for our post Xmas trip to York, bedclothes, toiletries etc. thought it would save time if we go on the 27th which we may do.

    plans for this week:

Do whole kitchen and ovens - check 🥳

Buy stamps and post 2 cards

Got to bank and pay cash in ds2 owed me

    send back parcel

    collect parcel

Gp phone appointment - low expectations here of help with pain due to statins, was told to come off them last time for a bit, I’m not doing that without the cardiologists say so as they are for the valve not chlorestorol…

Clean whole house and deep clean bathrooms

    have friend for lunch Tuesday

meet for breakfast Saturday with friends

    gym twice

shopping centre Thursday with best friend

    take mum out weds

Redo food list for Xmas, what is left to get now

buy nice Xmas flowers for mum

check finances, might so this tonight 😩

have ds1 and girlfriend and maybe dd and sil round weds night for his Xmas presents and pizza as he’s off to Leeds for Xmas again this year 🥲

Aside from this I plan to rewatch the whole of gavin and Stacey ready for Xmas day and hopefully also read my M.R.James ghost story book I bought last year and never started!

  • Er, that's quite a lot, NG 😬!

Unless you need the money in the bank to cover payments out, could you just spend the cash from DS2 rather than pay it in? Would tick one job off the list, at least!

A good idea that’s been implemented sc 😊

I seem to have a new full time job of buying food for Xmas 😆 it’s bits and bobs here and there but seems to be taking up a lot of time and money. Today I did and m@s trip, manic already. They had in two of the desserts I’ve pre ordered and they looked very disappointing, so I shan’t take those when I go for my collection, it was a chocolate torte for £15 that was the size of a side plate 😳 and a log cabin cake which i wouldn’t normally get for dessert but it looked cute, not so good in real life and not worth £25.

Now I’m on the look out for maybe a large cheesecake, I can’t face Costco which would be the best bet, and I’m pretty ok at making them but don’t want added pressure this year, so I may squeeze in a tesc@ trip as I see they have a big plain one for £7.50 I think it was which I could decorate. We also have various other dessert bits so won’t go short. We are of course suffering from the usual pre Xmas lack of real food in the house, both finances and space make it tricky and my brain only has limited storage for food planning, so tonight’s dinner for me was yet again cheese and crackers  😂

I’ve managed a fair bit off the list from the other day, also adding more in it like taking dd to hobbycraft tomorrow and meeting aunt for lunch afterwards as she driving over. The gym has been the thing that’s unfortunately fallen by the wayside, not ideal, but best friend was poorly Tuesday and I have dd off work tomorrow whom I’ve not seen for nearly a month. Still have the cleaning to do but that should be early next week or I’ll be doing it twice. Help is very thin on the ground as everyone’s working a lot, dh has been a bit like a chocolate teapot lately,  when he is off this weekend he’s out on two Xmas do’s, both of which will involve hangovers the next day, very irritating!

Oh don't be trailing out for a cheesecake ng, digestive biscuits and butter make the base.  Condensed milk, elmlea cream and a flavour (lemon juice or lime juice etc) make the top.  You can have it done in 20 mins on Xmas eve (as it tastes better on 2nd day).  Ive added strawberry and blueberry on the day to lemon cheesecake.  They always taste better than bought ones  I can give you exact amounts if you have all these things in already.

Ah thanks daisy, just seen this! I ended up taking dd out yesterday and part of that entailed me taking her to sainsbugs for more food where I found a large clementine cheesecake which I bought alongside a frozen dessert.

I’m shattered and cross, dh was out on another Xmas do last night, this time at the darts which entails a lot of drinking, he also met ds1 there who was this year dressed as Lord Farqu@@d from Shr@k along with his friends who were various other characters from the film. So he’s woken me up again and then set his alarm for 6am today (by accident!)  just to finish me off I think 😩 he’s entitled to go out but I’m a woman on the edge with the lack of sleep right now! He’s now downstairs having a sleep while I’m upstairs cross and awake, might go and bang about in the kitchen soon 😆

Off for a coffee and present swap with friends at nine am today, then plans are to sort out whatever I can, locating bits I’ve bought, cleaning my bedroom and en suite etc. also need to go back to the chemists as after a really long wait for prescriptions yesterday and asking if all three were in there , they went there was only one item, on reflection I think they may actually be shut on a Saturday, hopefully not next week as I’ve new iron tablets to take as the GP said yesterday it’s very low which makes sense! Apparently it takes many months to replenish if you have lost a lot during an operation which I did. Common sense but you don’t always think of these things, or at least I don’t 😬

I wouldn't have thought of that either, so it's not just you!

Haven't you got a couple of spare rooms now? Could DH agree to go to sleep in one of those when he comes home after a few too many? Or on the sofa? Sell it to him that it'll be easier than getting up all the stairs to the top floor 🤣
