There's still a little more plasterboarding to do, but finally the plastering has begun! The weather was so appalling on Monday that DH couldn't possibly go to the outdoor job he's been working on (up a high ladder!) for the past few weeks, but it wasn't convenient to go to his other ongoing job (a whole cottage refurb he's been doing on and off as and when the client has funds).....
So, he had an unplanned day off which he spent getting plastered, lol! I was labourer again (putting up the scrim, fetching and carrying etc) so between us good progress was made 😃
Tuesday night we brought the Christmas decorations down from the attic - five large plastic boxes - as I wanted to list some unwanted items for sale. However, the additional glass baubles we bought in the sales in January were missing, which prompted me spending most of yesterday hunting for them. Having strip searched the mill, there was no sign whatsoever and I began to think I'd either imagined buying them or that we'd inadvertently thrown them out 🙄
Finally, last night DH ventured back into the attic where, lurking in a corner, he discovered a sixth box - smaller than the others and containing the seven missing boxes of baubles 😁 Apart from the door 'wreath' (actually a massive star) and an advent calendar which DH always insists on, our tree and other decorations won't be going up till the living room is complete, but at least I know where everything is now!
Today I've been trying to get all the stacks of books that won't fit in our antique bookcases tidied away whilst keeping them accessible. I took the opportunity to sort them by genre and author etc too. We're not ready to get the 'library' shelving yet but for now I've managed to squeeze many of them onto the tops of the Besta storage cabinets 😉5 -
@liberty_lily my books are split by genre & then alpha sorted - I blame my librarian parents! Fiction live on shelves fixed to the wall at the head of the stairs, cookery books live in Billys by the kitchen & nonfiction are in a Besta shelf unit by the french doors 😁2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Fabbing today involved a DIY pedicure including painting my toenails my favourite colour and washing my hair which was full of dust from all the recent building work. No point painting my fingernails as there's loads more work to do over the coming weeks 🙄

Hello Ladies,
Liberty Lily, I do not know how you and your husband do it, but well done on getting so much of the plaster boarding and the plastering.
I bought my son new bath sheets from George at Asda. I had to wash them a few times to get rid of the excess colour and fluff them as much as possible before he started using them. I already owned some bath sheets from their super soft range, and they are a bargain for the quality. They were only £8 each and the matching flannels only 75p each.
On Wednesday I went to the mental health and wellbeing discussion group at Blackfriars Settlement. It was another lively discussion.
Yesterday, I went to the Cococure restaurant near Aldgate bus station to have a meal with my son. I had a Groupon that had only cost me £11.24 for food and 2 soft drinks worth £32.83. We had fiery chicken wings, fries, and chicken skewers. The food was enjoyable, but nothing special.
Yesterday evening I went to The Savannah restaurant near Clapham North underground station for Karaoke. It is a Carribean restaurant, so I bought a takeaway meal near the end of the evening to try their food. I sang 5 of my usual songs at Karaoke and I got a couple of compliments about my singing. There were more talented singers there than me and the music the DJ played throughout the night had me doing lots of dancing sitting down. All in all, I had a great evening out.
Today was one of the Neighbourhood Voices regular Saturday sessions with Ola and Kirk Anne. 4 hours of talking, writing stories in 3 minutes or 5 minutes and working in small groups, was really good. It really got my creative writing skills going.I did my final draft of my duologue and emailed it to Alisha.

Hi fabbers,
I’ve been reading along, but haven’t updated, as work has been busy and OH celebrated a big birthday, so I was busy with that.OH is still off work following his injury, but is slowly getting better. He is going to make a start on some of the decorating this week as there are things he can do around his injury and I can help with the rest at the weekend. DD really wants to put the tree up so we need be able to pack the decorating stuff away first. We are doing well with our heating and haven’t used it much this month, as the weather has been mild. Our builder added lots of insulation when he did our extension, so I think that is helping to keep the heat in.What is everyone’s plans for Christmas?4
