@helensbiggestfan the slip covers should work although you might need two sachets of dye depending on how big they are. I tried to dye a king size duvet cover once and it came out patchy as I didn't use enough dye.3

Thanks Wednesday. I think I'll give it a whirl. Probably next summer because of the drying time. They are fine for now.Last time I dyed loose covers - for a three seater and a two seater - it took four packs. It's still a nice cheap way to revamp the look though. I fancy a dark midnight blue.Tip run today and then whizz round Aldi.5

Thanks for the review on Mrs Harris goes to Paris @sugarbaby125. It had good reviews in the weekend press too so I'll try to get there later in the week.
I had my Covid and Flu jabs today. I thought hard about having both at once but decided to get it all over and done with. I discussed it with the nurse and she said that, as I hadn't had after effects from flu jab previously, reported reactions were more than likely because the current booster has vaccines in it for both the original and omicron strains of Covid. Who knows? 🤔 It's soon to say how I'll react but have taken some paracetamol as a precaution.
Do you have a favourite in terms of blow dry mousse @helensbiggestfan? 🤔 I've got a John Frieda one at the moment but can't really say it's any better than some I've picked up in Savers or a £shop. I sometimes wonder whether too much conditioner is too heavy for my hair so I'm using tiny amounts at the moment. I also bought some Philip Kingsley shampoo which I think I'll switch to permanently when other products run out. It gets my hair really clean and shiny and although it's expensive I only need a small amount.
Body Building Shampoo 75ml | Philip Kingsley | M&S (marksandspencer.com)
I have a larger bottle from Amazon which is better value but to try it out the M&S tube might be a good idea.
Unlikely to feel ill before this evening so I'm off to my dance class. I've had a good pamper session today, including a defuzz although my legs won't be on show any time soon. 🤣6 -
sugarbaby125 said:... Mrs Harris goes to Paris. I really enjoyed both of these films, but Mrs Harris goes to Paris was so much fun and had such a stream of the most gorgeous Dior dresses in the film that were a feast for the eyes. This film was a 9.5/10 for me.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hello Ladies,
I was checking out a local theatre online and realised that they have a current playwriting competition. So, I have decided to believe in myself as a writer and enter my play in this competition. I just have to write the final scene of my play tomorrow (should only take me an hour, based on how fast I have written the rest of my play), then proofread it and submit it. The closing date for submissions is 12pm on 14th October 2022, but I prefer to submit it tomorrow.
This may be the best avenue for me to try to get the mentoring that I need to get my play production ready. I do not expect to win the competition, but I could still get noticed and find out how to secure myself a mentor.
I did not get a reply from Alisha or Kirk Ann, but at least now, I will not be expecting any support from either of them with my playwriting skills and experiences on the rest of the Neighbourhood Voices programme.6 -
Good luck with the competition @sugarbaby125. I think it's a good idea to try to get feedback anywhere you can. Disappointing that the two from Neighbourhood Voices didn’t get back to you.
Just to report on my 2 jabs yesterday. I feel much as I did after the first one, a bit tired and a headache. My arms are fine unless I poke them (why would I? 🤣) I'm taking it easy and taking regular paracetamol.7 -
Hello Ladies,
Thanks Maman.I finally heard from Alisha today in response to my last email, stating that I no longer needed a free ticket to watch I, Joan at Shakespeare's Globe on 8th October. As she had not confirmed by email that she had reserved me a ticket for I, Joan, I had now booked a ticket to see Glitterball at the Riverside Studios theatre on 8th October. She apologised for not responding to my email last week asking her to reserve me a ticket and hopes that I enjoy Glitterball.
I have finished my 1st draft of my 1st play!
I underestimated how long and how much effort it would be to proofread my play and make any necessary corrections, so I may not finish the proofreading until tomorrow, but that will not be a problem. As this is only a 1st draft, I want to make sure I submit it without any glaring errors. I find it more difficult to proofread my own writing. I was a proofreader for the Ministry of Defence at Woolwich Arsenal about 30 years ago proofreading military handbooks. It was the most boring reading I have ever done, but I was an efficient and effective proofreader.
I went to Blackfriars Settlement today for the mental health and wellbeing discussion group. It was a productive discussion. One of the women noticed that I had lost weight. As I have only lost a stone so far, it was lovely that she noticed.
I went to watch the film The Woman King last night at the Ritzy cinema. I absolutely loved this action-packed film, especially because it is full of very strong female characters. There were about 50 of us in the audience and at the end of the film there was loud clapping and whoops of delight. For me this film is a 10/105 -
How fantastic that you've completed the first draft of your first play, Sugarbaby....I wish you every success with it 😊😃🤩 Good idea to enter it into the play writing competition too!
Not much fabbing happening here today, mainly due to the stormy weather- although I have begun transforming a cheap white lampshade that came with a lovely Homesense lamp a few months back. The shade was destined for the charity shop and I planned to replace it with something more vibrant (probably from Pooky), but as it was lying around and I was bored (🙄) I thought I'd nothing to lose by upcycling it!
Talking of the weather, thankfully our heavily tarped old extension frontage withstood the overnight gales and the torrential rain we've had for most of the past 24 hours. DH is confident he'll have most of the framing built by the end of the weekend, then we can look at fitting the glazing over the following week.....so it's getting incredibly exciting 😀
Here's a couple of pics (ignore the timbers - they're merely holding the multiple tarps in place! The nasty white fascia will be going too 😉).....
And what the view will be once completed - hopefully minus the building materials, lol 😂....6 -
@liberty_lily great progress on your home, what a lovely view you will have.
@sugarbaby125 well done on finishing the first draft of your play, what an amazing achievement.
I’ve had a busy few weeks with work, which is why I haven’t posted much. OH had an accident at work and is going to be off work for the next month whilst he recovers. He’s okay, but has limited mobility, so I’m having to do all of the physical stuff at home. On a more positive note, we got our pay award at work. It’s nowhere near inflation, but I was pleasantly surprised and every little helps.4 -
Sorry about your hubbie Chanie! I hope he recovers soon.2025 GOALS
