Infinijen - is it legit? Klarna help, too!

A couple of things:

1) Has anyone had any experience with infinijen.co.uk? I ordered an expensive computer from them, but the website was down for maintenance since about 20th December, and has since gone completely offline. The company is registered with Companies House under the name Plan-It-Cube, and both directors seem respected, as one is a CBE, and the other was a college principal. However, I’m obviously concerned since the website went offline. Also, the company assets are tiny.

2) I paid for this through Klarna, and I’ve only paid the first part of three so far. Are they good to deal with if I have been conned? What would be the first thing to do? Of course, I will contact my bank, but Klarna seems less responsive.
I will also contact the police fraud department.

Oddly there is absolutely nothing online about the company - no remains of old sites or reviews- which is very odd. How did you link that company with Plan-It-Cube to know to check companies House, Planet cube shows as 'Retail sale of games and toys in specialised stores' and is showing as a micro entity with no employees and only £26,000 capital reserves. How did you come across infinijen.co.uk in the first place?

I haven't ever used Klarna although I understand they are a reputable company- however any protection they give you will be as outlined in the T and Cs you agreed to, and it looks like the level of protection can vary depending on how much input they can get from the retailer

I would suggest you follow the guidance on their site immediately

If you believe you are a victim of fraud

Klarna works continuously to prevent, identify, and mitigate fraudulent activity so that you feel safe and secure when making purchases using our payment options. It is important that you contact us as soon as possible should you suspect that you have been a victim of fraud. You can contact us by chat or by phone on 0203 005 0837 to report suspicious or fraudulent activity.

Klarna’s Fraud Protection Promise can be found here.

Although this paragraph is quite encouraging:

Claims submitted to your financial institutions.

If you are a victim of fraud relating to an authorised purchase using one of Klarna’s payment options and a payment has been taken from your credit or debit card or your issuing bank account, we kindly ask that you contact your card/account issuing bank directly to raise a payment claim and resolve your dispute.

In the event that our investigations confirm that you have been a victim of fraud but no payment has been taken, rest assured that Klarna shall not expect you to pay for the fraudulent purchase.

  • Thank you very much. Their old website, when it was active, stated that it was Plan-It-Cube, trading as Infinijen.co.uk. It also listed the Companies House registration number, and the correct business address. I shall attempt to contact this address to see if they are truly connected, or if this site was set up to defraud using their name.
  • So this is a link I used before, I think that it made me think it must be legit. If it’s a company I’ve not heard of before, I do a lot of checking.

So they are a source for premium mobile gaming etc- all with no employees and a very limited turnover and  classed as a micro business, I’m not sure how comfortable that would make me feel . They also declare to Companies House as retail sellers of games and toys in specialised stores , where have you found anything to suggest they have any reputation apart from their own declaration , that they are involved in PC gaming?

What else did your research show up, where did you see the original advert as I suspect these companies don’t feature high.y in a basic google search. If you found them via a website or magazine might it be worth going back to the source to see if they have any additional information?

Personally, and I admit to being over cautious on occasions, I would be worried about their lack of profile on the internet and the fact that they are too small to have much buying power . Since Klarna seem to protect you if you notify them as soon as you suspect something is up, I would still make opening approaches to them to protect yourself. How are you funding the Klarna payments as they might give you a back up source of recompense if my fears prove correct.

You can't have done much checking here, surely.  Even searching for them by name doesn't come up with their official homepage on Google, just a few links to coupon sites and then a load of unrelated stuff.

Plan It Cube Limited searches largely provide links to company Infomation with this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plan-It-Cube-Limited-Solve-It-Blocks/dp/B00SFROH1S/ Amazon app link for a free app from 2015.

My suspicion is that infinijen.co.uk is a scam site and they've used the name of a real company to provide some semblance of legitimacy to the operation.  On the face of it, it doesn't look like Plan It Cube is actually doing much of anything at the moment.

    I would go via Klarna.

As how it would be dealt with by bank is going to depend on how
Klarna take payment. Also going via bank also risks that Klarna may impose charges for non payment.

There is little chance the two are linked, the scammer almost certainly chose Plan-it-Cube at random to give the illusion of legitimacy.

They can’t have scammed many people though, as a Google search uncovers nothing apart from a bunch of discount coupon site with discounts for this now non existent website. The domaine was first registered in 2019 but appears not have been used before December this year, so I suspect that may have been hijacked and the owner then had it taken down.
  • Most scam sites don’t have means to contact or check order status. Prior to it going offline, I was able to do both, so it seemed more legit.
I was told that the item would ship yesterday, and arrive on Jan 6th.
The only option on Klarna is to say that you didn’t receive your order. So I guess I will wait til the 6th.
I will also reply to the emails that infinijen.co.uk sent me to confirm my order. If I hear nothing by the 6th, I will report to Klarna, my bank, and police.
  • On a who is check, the site was registered in 2019, but the registration ended on 2021-12-15.

Not sure where you're seeing that.  I see it as ending on Dec 15th 2022.
