I have currently have with my S&S ISA:
  • US equity exposure all in iShares VII plc Core S&P 500 B GBP ACC (CSP1) with a small holding in Amazon Inc on the side.
  • small caps via iShares III Plc MSCI World Small Cap UCITS USD(GBP) (WLDS)

I'm looking to add some exposure to US Mid Cap/Small Cap as I want to broaden exposure to US companies outside the S&P 500. It must be index tracking and an ETF. I'm trying to avoid overlap with the S&P 500 ETF more so than the Small Cap ETF.

Have done some research online but struggling to decide on which one, would appreciate anyone's comments and in particular of any US Mid-Cap ETFs.

Here's the contenders so far:
  1. iShares Edge MSCI USA Size Factor UCITS ETF. TER is 0.20%, but not a huge fan of the equal weighting index.
  2. iShares VII PLC - iShares MSCI USA Small Cap ETF USD Acc (GBP) CUS1. TER of 0.43%, could be lower..
In an ideal world, if I could find an index tracking ETF that invests outside the S&P 500 but larger than US stocks that get picked up in the MSCI World Small Cap index. If such an ETF exists in GBP!

That tricky as the S&P 500 includes small caps - goes all the way down to $5bn market cap. The Global small cap index starts at around $20bn

SP500 is free float adjusted index. Not a pure capitalisation play.  Presume Global small will be similar. Not easy to make direct comparisons.

    Are you sure?

Having read Standard & Poor’s website, it suggests otherwise. Particularly under Index Attributes in each factsheet below.

I used the wrong quote. I meant in relation to the MCSI global small cap ETF which overlaps to some degree with the S&P 500, and the US MID and small cap indexes.

The two iShares US only ETFs don't seem to overlap at all with each other.
