    That's sounds lovely!

We planted an apple tree from a shop bought apple and it has grown nicely, think this is its 3rd or 4th year, obviously nothing to harvest yet or even if it ever will but nice to wait and see!

Yes, that's true, even a little is better than nothing!

By chance, the supermarket had some fenugreek seeds so I'll give them a try. The internet seems to suggest a need to soak them first overnight.

I do think I need to focus a bit more on fruit. Behind our sed / workshop is nice and sunny, as well as quiet so Im wondering whether to plant some small variety fruit trees down there or whether to get some bit pots and put them in the top of the garden. Need to research and think a bit more on that I think but Im sure I saw on garden rescue the other day that they had a miniature bramley apple variety so need to give that a rewatch

Hoping as well my sister is going to trade a few plants with me next week - she seems to have done well with chillis so Im going to swap her a chilli plant or two for a few trays of peas. :-) happy days

Just to mention that the root stock of the tree is what determines how big it is. This page on the RHS site is good. Also, you could go for more than one variety grafted onto a single rootstock - so potentially you could have one branch of Bramley Seedling (a group D pollinator that is self fertile) with a couple of other Group C or D eating apples on the same tree.

My experience is not to go for the absolute smallest dwarfing rootstock but to go semi-dwarfing, if you can afford the space

Oh that sounds ideal, having one tree with multiple branches of various fruits rather than several small trees - I have space for a few but I dont want to limit their growing space or sunshine etc by putting too many in once space.

Have you considered blueberries? Lovely in porridge or with some granola and yoghurt.

They need about a metre square and plenty of sunshine. They fruit better if you have more than 1 plant though. Raspberries are another option.

Thr end of another week and of course done most of the hard work all in one go today! Ms C and I weeded the brassica tunnel, bush beans. About half the bush beans and french beans (climbing) have now germinated. No sign of the rape kale yet. The next batch of radishes took all of 5 days to germinate!
A lot of rain expected, so a bit of a rest before the next bit of work.
I did not realise slug pellets got banned until i tried to get some this week. Guess the diy garlic spray GW recommends will make a showing soon on the allotment.

@sammy_kaye18, if space is limited you can take @Suffolk_lass idea and try growing it in a fan shape, called espalier, good for growing against a fence or wall.

Only metaldehyde pellets have been banned, so other pellets/slug killers should be available.  Whether the others work is different issue!

Delurking to say that the wool pellets seem to be effective at deterring slugs, although more expensive (imagine they might come down in price if more companies start making them as demand rises/chemicals are banned).

    The fenugreek is growing!

Unfortunately most of my other plants have been annihilated by slugs and deer. Pellets have no impact on these slugs.

I planted on loads of gyosyphilia and nigella on the weekend and the beds are now completely empty. So frustrating,

I’m eating early peas from the garden and I have a few red strawberries! On the other hand, my pepper plants are not doing well in the ground at all, my beans I transplanted hated me doing so, I have still not grown a single carrot despite 2 types of variety and 3 sowings of each and I keep forgetting where I’ve sown rocket!

Notes to self. Label better and figure out what on earth is happening to my carrots!
