Proetected No Claims when does it start from?
Guys can anyone advise.
Does protected No claims start from date of the policy or the start of the year? I have it but switched inusrance companies in the summer, added it to my new insurance.

I've had 1 claim with my old insurance and now another with my new one. I was expecting it to start from my new poilicy but cannot find out anywhere how it works.

It will start with your new policy.
presumable your NCD was accepted by the new insurer talking account of the old insurance claim?0 -
Start of the policy
But unless you didn't disclose the other accident or it is out of the " have you had any accidents in the last XXX years " then your premium will still rise on renewal as you are classified as greater risk regardless of protected no claimsEx forum ambassador

ive had a single small claim not increase the premium before.
depends on size of claims, number of claims etc.
often it will but it’s too strong to say definitely will.0 -
Yep i advised of the other claim when i joined. did everything as i should do. It was expected. As was my protected no claims I paid for as well
I assumed it should start from the date of policy, but everywhere i looked both at my insurance company and on independent web sites could not find the answer.
Looks like i would need to go back to my insurance company then. thanks for the advise

What do you need to go back to them for?
do you think you reported NCD incorrectly?
presumably you told them about the claim?0 -
For each insurance company the protection would be from the start date of the policy.
It's not clear what your issue is so a little more detail might help.0 -
I ask as they are stating on my insurance that no claims is affected. Which i would have thought it would not have been. My initially question was protected no claims as if i protect my no claims and are allowed 1 incident, then I've had my one for this year policy so there for would not expect it to change0

Your Ncd should not be affected this policy year by a claim this policy year.
are you reading a general document?
If not you’ll need to give more details about the context.
where is the statement - general document, your policy?
which years no claims are they referring to ? and which ncd is affected? The one you started his policy with or the one you’re carrying forward?
dates would help.0 -

Thanks lisyloo I will go back to my insurance company and confirm all it states is "no claims is affected" id assume it would be neither as i have "protected no claims" as this is only incident with in this policy year"

I am wondering if they mean you will not an additional year.
so the current amount is protected, but the number you’ll have at the end of the year is affected ?? By not going up.
just a guess, best to clarify0
