My EE contract is up in June, but with the next year increase due in March, (3.9%+rpi - currently 7.1% 😭). Is it worth paying the contract off early anc going sim only? As this is an annual contract so should avoid the increase

I’m not sure that makes much sense financially, as whilst your contract might increase by say 11% for the remaining months to June, you will still be getting a service. For example, if your contract is £50 a month now, an 11% increase would add £5.50 a month. Unless you can get a sim only contract for £5.50 a month or less, you’ll be worse off financially as your termination fee will be broadly equivalent to the monthly payments to the end of the contract and then you’ll have to pay the sim only monthly charge as well.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2

Thanks for that, makes sense if I’m honest, just the jump of a 5er a month is a lot really0

If you have an EE handset plan, then you are best changing as soon as your minimum term is up, but by paying it off early, I doubt you'll save anything.
It's either an RPI increase or a 3.9%+CPI with EE, not RPI+3.9%, depending on when you took out the mobile contract.
