They'll all work fine for hanging a picture on a solid wall.

The Rawl "Uno" ones are supposed to work on plasterboard as well, so are good to buy if you only want to get one pack for occasional use.

I think you have to tighten a screw into them fully to get them to engage behind plasterboard in a hollow wall, though - i.e., they won't grip properly if you leave the screw sticking out so you can hang a picture over it.

Another alternative if you want to do without the drilling are "hardwall" hangers.  They are made of plastic, and have 3 or 4 little pins going through them.  Place the hanger on the wall, so that the hook is pointing up, and whack the pins with a hammer until they are all the way in.

This is an American website, but is shows the things I mean: https://offthebroiler.com/hardwall-hangers/
I used these type of fixings for the first time at the weekend to hang three pictures. Worked fine.... well the pictures are still on the wall anyway. Bought on Amazon.

Used the Command ones on many occasions but my main concern was the weight loading limits.

  • Hi,
SavingStudent1, with all the preparation, tools and fittings, to hang the picture, what is the size and weight of it?
Looking at photie, it doesn't look too heavy.

Ah okay, that makes sense. Thank you! I guess if the screw is longer than the plug, then it should be fine to let it stick out as long a bit as long as it tightens till the end of the plug.

That's great, thank you. I will probably use them for hanging future pictures then.

    Hi,

To be honest, I actually hung the photo a few days ago, so I don't know lol! But, it was so light, I never felt the need to measure the weight of it, probably about 1 kg or less if I'm honest.

In terms of the size, I think it was 14 x 11 inches.
