I think this is right. I'm asking my son what they did to get connected, so i'm going by what he tells me lol

I did buy one of those adaptors for my daughter's PC, so I know it works there.

You can use any router (wired or wireless) and you connect the Xbox to the router via an ethernet cable and thats it. All you need to do then is sort out your router settings and the xbox has permissions to use the connecton.
  • im now told i can connect the xbox to the pc via a usb cable

but i need some software from microsoft? where can i get this software from?

Not ever heard the USB thing, i would be dubious of anything which suggests getting internet through a USB cable.
    My recomendation is

Buy a cheap wireless usb adaptor for your pc , any will do, something like this.
    http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=9260&category_id=154&manufacturer_id=0&tid=wu61s

put that in your PC and follow the instructiosn that come with to set it up to give your PC wireless internet.

Use the cable that currently goes router->PC to the back of your 360 instead of the PC.

    Voila a solution under £10!

Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there!

what usb wireless thingy, do you mean the 1 that someone posted a link to, i think you would need to turn the pc on if you had one,

if money is no object you can buy a 360 wireless adapter and a wireless router and connect the router to your pc and plug the 360 adapter into your 360, doing this means that you shouldnt need to turn the pc on to use LIVE

no put the cableinto the xbox and then put the usb stick in the pc.. this way if you want the pc have it on if you dont switch it off, the x box on does not require the pc to be on or off its simple go to pc world or order on line if you can wait for delivery and wen you have one the xbox will be online in less than 5 mins the usb stick cannot go into the xbox.
