is it possible to connect the xbox to the computer for the internet use - to get xbox live?
i have an elite console, so get 1month free, but the manual does say something about connecting it directly into the modem. but that modem isnt in the room im playing the xbox in.
i have the cable with the xbox to connect it up but how do i go about doing it? i have checked the back of my pc and there is only one slot for this type of connection and that is being used by the cable already to get my internet from the office (where modem and internet goes) to my room (where i will play xbox)
thanks

Not too sure if i am right totaly here but a couple of options, if you have wireless go buy the wireless adapter, if you dont what you need is either a switch which is like a router or a router or of course another ethernet slot in your pc via a pci card, then you can get connected, other than that i dont think you will.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

the xbox wireless adapter is £60!
thanks anyway0 -
you can connect it straight to the modem but you would have to take out the pc connection.
to do both your gonna need a router. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
My son has the elite. He plugs the ethernet cable into the back of the PC and plays it on the TV. The PC and TV are in his bedroom. The router is downstairs in the livingroom. We have wireless internet, but he uses the cable to connect the xbox to the PC, as he doesn't want to spend money on a wireless adapter just now.0

If you have wireless and you want to run both then get a wireless ethernet connection for your pc again using either a pci card or a usb dongle.. its cheaper if you dont want to pay the £60:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

Ok theres 2 ways you can do this, you can either connect ur console to the modem via ethernet, the ethernet plugs into your modem which should have an ethernet socket, or you could buy a wireless router and an xbox 360 wireless adapter to connect your console wirelessly, if you connect via ethernet i cant rememerber, its easier to go wireless as then you dont have a cable on the floorNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

can someone please break it down for me?
i have a wireless router in my office
- this is where the main connection for the internet is
- where the modem is etc
my computer in my room doesnt have wireless but is connected through a cable into the back of my pc there is only one slot for this type of connection
if i take the one in now, and plug the xbox in, there wont be an internet connection to the xbox because there will no longer be one into the computer
what do i need to do?0 -
You can buy a a wireless USB adapter for about £20. This will let you connect wirelessly (obviously lol) to your router. Then you'll have a spare ethernet socket at the back of your PC to plug you xbox cable into.
