Laura - your wool sounds lovely, I don't think I've ever knitted anything green and didn't realise it was such a difficult colour to get a good one of.
I was in our small local town this morning and went into our one cs, didn't find anything suitable at all. Eldest dd and I will be going to another bigger town in a few weeks so hopefully I will find something there, there's also a fabric shop and I have a 'roomy' summer dress I would like to have a go at making, so hopefully will spend some coupons.

Oh, I had to nip off and have a look – that is a beautiful green! I once had a cashmere jumper in that colour, sadly long gone. I hope you’ll show us the cardigan when it’s knitted.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.5

Hello everyone. In a spirit of optimism I have decided to go with starting off with 55 coupons as I have joined later in the year. I'm going to sit down and do a little forecast of everything I might need.
@Laura_Elsewhere the wool sounds beautiful especially the way you describe it.
At the library today we had our Knit and Knatter session and I laid out a range of books to inspire. Among them were "Knit your own boyfriend" and "Dogs in jumpers". Hehehehehe! With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!
Emergency fund £2474 post cat wee catastrophe!

Oh well done @Laura_Elsewhere!Im not keen on acrylic. It makes me too hot, doesn’t wear well and I build up a static electric charge. The neighbour’s cat 🐈 took a while to forgive me after I gave him an electric shock to his ear.I have similar thoughts on polyester. Those thoughts were exacerbated when I had minor surgery and it felt like a cheese grater was being taken to my scar when it was healing if I wore synthetic fibres. I still try to avoid synthetic fibres which handily rules out most fast fashion!✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

That's a lovely colour, @Laura_Elsewhere. It seems like a soft wearable wool.2025 Fashion on the ration

Thankyou all - I'm not sure when it will be knitted but from mid-April to mid-May I have weekly commutes to my old 5-weeks, once or twice a year, work, so I shall have long train journeys which I find excellent for knitting!
And more spending too - I bought three pairs of 50% wool tights from M&S, currently on a 3-for-2 offer and just under a tenner, making them considerably cheaper than Snag's 15 quid ones, although only available in black from M&S whereas Snag do several colours.
Anyway, for my height and width I got the XL and after a couple of weeks I can give them a 5-star review. They fit, for a start, and I honestly can't remember the last time I wore tights that didn't need a second pair of pants worn over the top in that I-have-become-my-own-Nana style to keep the crotch from descending with every step, nor the last time I wore tights that didn't need a hand clutching at the waist as it rolled down to make an interesting ridge round my hips, nor the last time I wore tights that were for larger women but were NOT throttling-constricting "Control!" compression tights (why does every manufacturer assume all larger women want to be strangled by their undergarments?!?!)...
All in all, excellent tights, excellent price.
They are handwash-only but I have put them inside-out in the cold-water 'rinse' cycle of our machine with no detergent and its 1400rpm spin and they are fine, as all my woollens are, with that.
I bought them a couple of weeks ago but had grimly expected to be cutting the legs off to make into stockings, hence waiting before posting as I wanted to review them too - a very unexpected surprise to find they are wearable!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Thanks everyone for your support. I doubt very much that the RAC will keep our business.QueenJess said:I lost track of this last year, but want to join afresh for this year.
Some silly questions please..
1. If I am buying clothes for others (DH, kids etc) I assume that comes out of my allowance?
2. What happens if DH and I are paying 50:50 because it comes out of my joint account? Do I take half the allowance?!
@QueenJess - to answer your questions:- If you are buying something for your DH at his request, then the coupons most definitely come from his allowance not yours. If it's a surprise present, then you can chose whether you take the cost from your coupons or from his. Remember, in (the real) 1942, usually the wife managed all the ration books. Ditto for your children: it is assumed that you have custody of your children's coupons and, therefore, any spends on them are taken from their coupon allowance.
- How you physically pay for something is irrelevant. The important point is for whom the clothing is being purchased. Each family member had their own clothing ration book. IIRC children's clothing coupons were printed slightly differently, so that an adult couldn't spend them on themself instead of on their child.

- PipThanks for answering my silly questions. I think I was trying to make it too complicated?!In theory this should be easy because I only buy underwear and socks new and everything else used, but unfortunately I need a lot of new things this year. Bought myself 3x underwear and 4x pairs of socks, so I think that is 10 coupons used this year.2025 decluttering: 3,491🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Managed to blow 28 coupons on 7 balls of wool - to be honest, I only needed (probably) 1 more to complete the shawl I'm making for my SIL but decided to get 2 (just to be on the safe side) and then to get the free delivery, decided I'd like to try and knit socks so needed 5 balls for that (Nordlys yarn, so nothing very posh) - it's a slippery slope!2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used
