Getting FIREd up 😀

You have plenty of time to be in the market. Unless you want it all out in five years? Trust me, the money you've already put in will continue to work, there's no changing that unless you pull it out. The money you need to have right now is needed right now. No point in making yourself miserable to chase gains. It's addictive you know.5

It is 😳! I was hoping to be taking an income from it in 13 years, but my plans have changed a bit now (more on that another day). I should still have enough to take some out then, just not as much as I'd planned. You're right, I just need to stick to the current plan!
In other news, I've had some money in from Prolific, so I'm only -£4.96 on the month now (we won't mention that there are still 8 days until payday and I'll need petrol again before then....!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I have (accidentally) been buying the red, due in part to FIL's poor communications. He sent Mrs E £200 which we assumed was for DD2 (he did similar for DD1). We then paid this into an ISA for her, only for MIL to say it was meant to be split between them
I then felt obligated to pay £200 in for DD1 as well. Between this, paying pocket money for DD2 up to the age of 5 into an ISA and pension purchases, we're into ££££ this month!

Heard a great quote on a podcast earlier:
Tell your money where to go, instead of asking where it went

So I have signed up to a new fixed rate for my electricity....
After my recent 260% increase when I came off the old fix, I was pretty perturbed by the idea of a further 42% increase in October (plus the idea being mooted of an additional review in January), so I thought I'd check out what else was on offer from my supplier. Turns out they had one which was 16% more than I was currently paying on the price cap (and it was one of the three which MSE say might be worth going for), so I took the plunge and signed up. Still feels weird to voluntarily commit myself to paying more, but it does mean I don't have to pay any attention to price changes in October, April (and probably January) so hopefully it was the right decision. Am now paying 3x what I was on the old fix, though!
