It was a local panto! Brilliant fun! Though I'm glad you're in out of the wind now, it sounds like it was horrendous (none down here).2023: the year I get to buy a car9

No wind at all this morning, and it's a gloriously sunshine day, although very cold. Seemingly no damage from last night, although a bench has blown half way across the garden and into a fence (impressive, it's a heavy bench that I struggle to move on my own).
I've got some work to do, and was feeling VERY resentful about it so decided to get it over and done with first. Washing is on, chickens have clean water, Mr Cheery has headed off on his travels, and I am sat at the computer - going to try to be done with work by 11.30, then have a brief break to make some lunch, then on to the promotions form. Hoping the rest of the day can then be mine, rather than having to think about coming back to it all later.
Right, best get on!12 -
Right, progress.
Work is done (well, the bare minimum, but I'm certainly not going above and beyond on a Sunday!)
I've also spent a couple of hours on promotions form, and I can see that I will have to spend many, many more hours in the forthcoming weeks 🙄
Stopping now though. I'm desperate to get some paint on the ceiling before I lose all the daylight. So much want to tick that job off the list!
Then my monthly goals meeting with my sister at 5.
Then I think I'll stick the radio on in the kitchen and potter about doing some batch cooking. Not sure what yet, we're quite low on fresh stuff and could do with a supermarket shop. I've got some onion, courgettes and sprouts though, and some frozen veg, so maybe
- frittata for lunches at work for the next couple of days
- butternut squash risotto - the squash is frozen and can be roasting while I talk to my sister
- maybe a curry? I've got chick peas, frozen spinach, tinned tomatoes etc
That'll probably do.
Then I'll get my stuff together for work- early starts the next two days, but I do at least have a parking permit so don't have to faff about when i get there.
Then if Mr Cheery isn't back, I'll settle down with Call the Midwife 😊😊12 -
Cheery - if you've got enough squash I think I'd be adding it to some of the chickpeas in a curry as well as making a Chana Masala with the chickpeas and spinach. Squash and chickpea curry is one of my favourites!

Food plans sound great.
Power cuts/heating - I do think you should prioritise getting the old solid fuel stove reinstalled before next winter. Being cold is miserable. The temperature in this house drops dramatically when the heating is off, but running solid fuel in the stove last night meant I came downstairs to gentle background warmth.9 -

It's certainly on the list! Being cold is indeed miserable, and it would be nice to have a stove in the living room anyway. Need to decide the rest of the room layout really - it's a weird room, mostly rectangular but with the porch taking a chunk out of one wall, and three giant windows. Lovely views, nice and airy, but it's hard to know where to put the furniture as there isn't much in the way of wall space 😂😂 It has got a chimney though from an old gas fire (and it's an actual chimney, so may have had a stove before the gas fire, who knows).
Anyway, it's on the list!
So, ceiling. It's getting there, but my arm is aching now 🙄😂 I'm loathe to stop in the middle, but I'm talking to sister in 8 minutes, and I've done most of it, just need to finish the oddly shaped bits that will be above shelves etc, so I'm going to come back to it later this evening.
Feels good to have made progress! Very much want to get into this new bedroom at some point this year 🙄😂 Just trying not to beat myself with a stick because I'm not going very quickly!
Right,best get on.

Well done on getting actual work done on a Sunday Cheery - you deserve a promotion 😀
I love a panto although I’ve usually got 30 kids with me so that takes the edge off the enjoyment 😂
Have a lovely rest of the weekend xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!11 -
Thanks Pp, I can certainly see how that would make things less calm!
Well, so much for my butternut squash - this is why we don't put things in the oven and go on a zoom call 😂😂😂

Oh no! What a shame
I nearly always put my phone alarm on when I leave the kitchen when I'm cooking things, but I still burn stuff. Hope you can clean that pan.
