Glad to see Mr Cheery is home and the worst suspects have been removed from the possibility list! If he was going to be in much longer I was going to say you'll need to take a bag of snacks in for him and a hot homemade soup in a thermos. So pleased to hear Mr Cheery is home and feeling a little better. There is definitely a chill descending on the Fortunate household too. We had the log burner lit over the weekend and I've just started to put the heating on for an hour or so to take the edge off.
Stay warm and take care of each other.

Thanks all. We did indeed go back to sleep after the smoke alarm nonsense, and have bought new batteries today which we'll get in before bed. Not sure whether it's that or dust (I confess they did go off in the night on Sunday as well, and I meant to get batteries then, but of course then the whole hospital thing happened and I forgot, and they didn't go off at all on Monday night.
Anyway. I'd originally planned to be back at work today, then decided to take the rest of the week as leave, which felt like a relief. Then I remembered an important meeting on Monday that needed preparing for (and that I'm leading) so decided to work today after all. Emailed colleagues to arrange a chat - only to discover they had already met this morning and decided on a plan of attack that didn't involve me doing anything 🥰🥰 Very grateful for those lovely ladies. So I did have the day off after all, and it was very much a relief
Not done much. Breakfast in the cafe, pottering at home while Mr Cheery slept, then we've been back into town to walk round the park for an hour. Lots to talk about, including a job that I've seen that I might apply for... It would involve giving up my precious Fridays (at least for the time being) which is a big ask - but it is also a very significant pay rise (partly because I'd be going back to full time).
Consensus at the minute is that I'll start the process of talking to people, filling the form in etc, and see where that takes me.
Heating is on, and things are starting to feel more pleasant and less damp already 😂
There's been a mouse in the big car, but we've had the trap set in there all afternoon and not caught it 🙄 There's also currently one in the house (possibly the same one) so trap is now inside. Pesky critters 🙄
Forgot about applying for the Leeds 5.2% savings account and they're now only offering 4.85% so I'm not going to bother. I think there's a Coventry one over 5%, need to check the rules as I've had a conventry account in the last few years and I'm not sure if it's just new customers. Possibly not a job for tonight though.5 -

Good grief, going to bed is hard work tonight!
Started getting ready about 11.30. Sitting in the bathroom, spied a mouse happily wandering along by the wall 🙄 It spotted me, and ran back behind the cupboard.
Put the trap out, left the bathroom and went to sit on the sofa again for half an hour. No sign of mouse 🙄
Back into the bathroom, left trap set while I was in there in case there was a repeat performance and yes, Peeping Tom Squeakio appears yet again as I'm sat on the loo 🙄 Goes into trap, sits just to the side of the trigger plate, nibbling an old piece of cheese that it had found amongst the scrunched up paper we put in there 🙄Notices me, and runs off.
I decide to wait it out, and text Mr Cheery to explain and warn him not to bang on the door. I'm very tired by this point, and rather bored, and am therefore QUITE CROSS when I see the mouse waltz into the trap, grab the cheese off the bait hook, and make off with it, without the trap going off 🙄
Investigation reveals an old piece of cheese under the trigger plate - mea culpa. However, I'm not being defeated now, the mouse has got used to the trap being there, so this is a good opportunity. Set the trap again, and decide I'm going to bed, and Mr Cheery can come and get me if it goes off.
Which, inevitably, it did 🙄 So I got back out of bed and we have been on a little trip upto the lay-by 🙄 Good job we don't have neighbours 🙄😂
Remembered we hadn't done smoke alarm batteries, so did that, and now I'm back in bed.
I can quite clearly hear ANOTHER mouse in the loft, but that's a job for tomorrow. Good job I took the day off - I'm going to need a lie in! 🙄😂😂7 -
