    Another lazy day here. Instead of doing the thing that I should be doing, I have pottered about doing bits and pieces of other (more enjoyable) things. Ah well. Never mind. That's what bank holidays are for surely?

    Re the stone cleaning, perhaps the remaining ‘stains’ are actually the natural colour of the stone? Perhaps see how they compare to local dry stone walls or similar once they are dry?

    - When bought house £315,995 mortgage debt and end date at start = October 2039 - now £216,847
    - OPs to mortgage = £18,925 Estd. interest saved = £9,670 to date
    c. 16 months reduction in term
    Fixed rate 3.85% ends October 2030

    Read 31 books of target 52 in 2026 as @ 7th May.

    To be fair I could happily live with that ‘stain’ as part of the character of the stone and there are a couple there in that line on the wall that are really nice. 

    For the cutting you need an electric saw with a brand new diamond blade (we’ve been doing similar here but just with bricks and blocks!). I would also consider where you are going to do it - on a really hefty bench or on the floor? And where you want to direct the inevitable dust. Ear muffs and a good filter face mask might be recommended too 😉
