Evening chums. A very sad day today, taking Skippy & Daisy to their new home 😕 They had a couple of hours pottering round the garden here in the sunshine first, and I had tinges of regret thinking of them going somewhere where they've got less space 😕 I mean, we've got no fences so they've basically got the run of the county here, whereas they've gone to somewhere with an actual garden with boundaries - not a tiny space by any means, and they certainly didn't use the vast majority of our space!)
Anyway, the people were lovely, even though I sobbed at them and couldn't bring myself to stay more than five minutes 😕 We bumped into the woman again in the supermarket car park a bit later with her teenage kids so that was nice, she was able to say hello to Mr Cheery too (he'd not come to the house with me).
Then we spent the afternoon with our friends, which was absolutely the right thing to do - they were lovely, and it was a nice distraction.
Home now, and everywhere feels too quiet (not that there would have been any noise at this time of night, but you know what I mean!)
Anyway, busy week at work and we're going away next weekend which is just what we need.11 -
Cheery, take care of yourself and Mr C. This is a big change in your lives. Just because you made the right decision doesn't mean you won't second guess yourself. Chickens have been a big part of your lives for so long. So take some time and you know where we are if you need anythingGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£20010

Well done Cheery. It's been a tough decision but I know you would not have made it lightly and that it's the right thing for you to do right now. We rehomed our chickens when we were in Kent and I know how you feel. You have done your very best for them and they are going to a good home.

Starnac & FS say it all really - be gentle to yourselves but do take comfort in having done the right thing for the birds themselves, even if it was a touch decision for the two of you. You will have chosen the right home for them too - you'd put too much thought into it for it to be otherwise - have faith your judgement.

I have thought of you all weekend knowing how sad you were but knowing that you and Mr Cheery had made the right decision for you both. Glad you were able to find a lovely home for them the lady sounds wonderful and I am sure she will look after them well. Once they settle in they will have more chicken pals which is what you both wanted for them.
Glad you managed to make arrangements to see some friends over the weekend too because I am sure that made things a bit nicer for you. And, I am sure you are so looking forward to going away next weekend, what a real treat for you both.
Take good care and be kind to yourselves.

Yesterday was, of course, a bit easier. I was at work all day, stopped off on the way home for a bike ride, and then when I got back, got the strimmer out for the first time this year - something I'd never have done at 9pm with the chickens here - they hated it, and they would have been in bed, so it wouldn't have been fair.
However, I made good progress, and can now reach the washing line without wearing wellies! Result!
Fingers crossed for today - taking the little car for an MOT. Shouldn't be much h wrong with it - at least I hope there isn't. This is the car that I took for a service about 6 months ago and they replaced all the brakes and charged me £900 😱 The car only cost £1400, so it had best be in perfect working order!! Might need a couple of tyres.
Needless to say, as lovely as the local garage is, it's going to our old favourite cheapo one near work this time 😂10
