Simple living in the country - back to basics

Thanks KK 😊 Yes, there's a rose outside the window in a pot - and also a couple of roses in a vase inside, leftover from the giant table setting I was sent home from the wedding with 😂 A lot of that stuff is going to have to come off the windowsill - the blinds are very simple roll up ones so the windowsills will need to be pretty clear. But I hope I can have a couple of things on there (and maybe it will discourage cluttering them back up 😂😂 we can but hope! 😂😂)
Of course, it would be nice to have actual windowsills at some point too 😂 At the minute it's just fabric laid on top of a very rough mix of concrete/stone/building rubble 🙄 But clearly windowsills are going to have to be on next year's list now!
So, today. The sun is shining and I want to take advantage! Plans for the day (some of which undoubtedly won't get done...)
* washing on (and maybe later hung outside!)
* first blind finished
* second kitchen blind finished
* measure up for wood for rest of blinds
* b&q to collect flooring for Mr Cheery's dad (and sealant for windows, and wood for blinds)
* an hour of scything??
* start digging holes for chicken extension?? (That might be a step too far...)
* do a general tidy round everywhere
* flute practice
* band rehearsal later
* clothes and bags laid out for the week - I'm doing a fair bit of travelling this week and need to make sure I've got tickets in the right bags
* lunches planned so I don't have to eat train sandwiches
* dinners planned so I don't just eat toast when I get in
I do realise that's probably too much for one day... 🙄 This is the bare minimum list
* washing
* clothes and bags and food ready for tomorrow
* band rehearsal
* bit of sewing
* bit of tidying

Most people dream about how to spend their winnings, you dream about how to organize them 🤣🤣🤣6

I'm pretty sure agent millions dreams are much calmer than your recent dream. Dreams really are strange aren't they.
re: your talk of Winter. I've just started reading 'The Winter1ng' which is about how we need to take time to retreat and care for ourselves. I've not read much but I'm really enjoying it so far. Your post made me think of the book and it's sounds like one you may enjoy.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!4 -
I know, it's ridiculous 😂😂 I think in my dream I was more concerned about it all disappearing before I got to spend it! 😱😂😂
Thanks for the suggestion Cath! I'll investigate 😊
So, obviously today has turned out more like my second list than my first 😂😂 I did do the washing - that was outside for a bit and is now on airer/radiators. I did tidy a bit (including changing the sheets) - put the flylady home blessing podcast on 😂 Sewed a bit - first blind is finished now, and all the bits and pieces tidied up a little. Bag is ready for tomorrow (not clothes yet though), and I've lined up the extra things for Tuesday on my desk. Band practice done, and a bit of practicing beforehand too. Oh, and we collected the flooring for Mr Cheery's dad - I hadn't realised quite how much of it there was! Lots of trips back and forth to the car 🙄
So not too bad! I didn't get anything done outside, but the weather turned anyway, and you can't do everything (or at least I can't!)
All that's left now is food (freezer pasta bake), clothes for tomorrow (I've decided now, so will just lay out as I'm getting to bed). Will return my mum's phone call, spin the Happy Wheel, and then wash my hair so I don't have to do it in the morning. Then an early night I think!6 -

Thanks beanie, you too xx
Nice one today. Had breakfast at a friend's, left the car at hers and she fed me my tea later too 😊 not the world's most productive day but got to see some lovely ex students so all good 😊
Long one tomorrow - I'm off on a train trip that sees me going through London and out the other side! Been a long time since I've done that. I've packed breakfast but will have to buy lunch annoyingly. No meals left in the freezer now (and I'll be on a train so don't really want to eat a cold defrosting pasta bake anyway!)
Need to get on the case with meal planning... never did crack it, not even a vague approximation...
Managed to leave my laptop in the office, which is very annoying. Didn't realise as my bag was so heavy anyway due to a colleague giving me a massive load of windfall apples 😂 can't do anything about it now, but it means I'll have to go and get it on Wednesday afternoon after I've been somewhere else rather than coming straight home. Most vexing!
Anyway, should probably go back to sleep...7 -
Whats the plan for the apples?3

No specific plan for apples WelshmansDaughter - for now I'll just cook and bung them in the freezer to be retrieved at a later date for a relatively impromptu crumble 😁
So, a nice if long day of trains today, should finally get home about 7.30 so still a while to go yet...3 -
Not a big fan of crumble here but apple batter pudding, that is a whole different ball game. Although rhubarb batter pudding is my favorite. Then there is bacon batter pudding & dried fruit batter pudding...............
