Lovely welcome to EDF as my new supplier
Anyone else had this experience?
I'm a former Utility Point customer & was transferred to EDF.
All emails, messages & advice was to sit tight & await further information.
Final account statement from utility point/EDF was generated and sent to me on 18 Dec 21. Confirmed I am £158.54 in credit.
No problem, I thought, that'll keep EDF happy for a bit & I'll set up a new direct debit with them in the new year.
25 December 21, Christmas day, EDF send me their 1st-ever text message & email threatening LEGAL ACTION unless I immediately pay their £41.56 bill.
What a lovely welcome from my new supplier.
Is this their way of getting rid of the Utility Point customers that were forced upon them by OFGEM?
If so, it's worked; I'll be switching as soon as that credit balance appears on my EDF account!

You say Final Account Statement from utility point/EDF - but, EDF won't have anything to do with your final bill from your old supplier.
If that showed credit, that will be transferred over to your EDF account. But you say you're still awaiting that.
Unfortunately, there is no relation to a final bill from your old supplier and a new bill from your new supplier. The new supplier can bill you before that credit has been copied over, and you can owe them money - although most will give you some leeway on a debit balance if you've setup a new direct debit with them to at least show how you'll be paying going forward.
It sounds like EDF have sent you your first bill, but you haven't paid it, nor setup a direct debit from them, and either your first bill is higher than the credit from the old account, or that credit hasn't copied over yet.

Has your final UP bill being paid and the UP credit paid into your EDF account if so then it is wrong for them to threaten action as the credit from UP that is in your account should just be reduced by the amount the bill was. If the credit hasn't being paid just, if the option is available, make an additional payment for the amount of the bill plus £1.Someone please tell me what money is0

I didn't know Thames Water did gas and electric.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

And that's precisely what they have done in an ongoing issue of trying to get repayment of a Utility Point overpayment amounting to several hundred pounds.
Do not trust them. They're Incompetent, and they will lie through their teeth at a very senior level to avoid being investigated by Ofgem.1
