I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

I remember that overwhelming feeling of relief well! (The judge in our case had several reservations and asked lots of questions as to why we’d come to the agreement we had, so I had no confidence that it would be approved, although it eventually was) - it’s a long and stressful road but it’s finally over and you’re in control of your own destiny now - many congratulations 🎉2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Thank you all so much for your support.
I am so relieved to be able to live our lives for us at last.
I have made a rather massive update to my signature and my debt free today has adjusted ever so slightly from March 2026 to ........ today!
I can’t quite believe I have made it to this point. My ex and I ‘tried’ so many times on here to work the debt down but we never stuck at it and it only ever increased but I have done it alone and in a pretty short period of time.
I do love that my ex’s girlfriend is smugly living my old life and I can sit back and watch them delve deeper into debt living for today with no realisation of the impact for tomorrow. If we were still together than that would be me with loans, overdrafts and any progress on getting my credit card below it’s limit always getting blown on things I clearly can’t afford.
My habits and mindset have changed so much. I do have a car loan but I am a single mum of 3 who drives over 200miles a week to work and back so a reliable car and service plan is a necessity not a luxury. My credit card is still open but has sat unused for over a year except for my son’s oopsie involving someone’s front window, the police and paying for boarding and reglazing to prevent his arrest and that was paid back off in days. I am a new person and I am my own person. My next steps will be holiday savings for next summer as the kids and I need a break but savings will be matched with mortgage overpayments. It determined my new, shiny 20 year mortgage won’t take 20 years.
Thank you all for your support and guidance on my rollercoaster ride

2025 Savings Focus - 33.3/33.3/33.3 split; savings for house renovations (bathrooms/garden/kitchen; whichever collapses first), save for a family holiday (probably our last one!) and paydown/offset the mortgage. Total pot = £3275.8814 -
Congratulations on being debt free. That will be a huge load off your mind. The change of mind set is, I think, the hardest thing. My DH is still working on it. If it is something he "needs" it is different to something we need for the house or me.
