My Samsung TV has Apple AirPlay built in. Works a treat with an iPad. Used it for the grandchildren to have a zoom call with Santa!
Might give that a try too .. thanks !

I use a USB mouse for clicking the on screen keyboard.  But the web browser on most TVs is pretty awful due to the lack of memory.

  • Personally, I wouldn't use a smart TV for web browsing.

    Two reasons.
    1) They only have a small amount of (usually) eMMC storage. Writing to that storage will shorten it's life expectency. And it's soldered on. Even if you acquire replacment eMMC chips, desolder the ond ones and solder in the new ones, you still need to source a copy of the TV's operating system to flash onto the storage. I wound up replacing our Samsung TV's main board due, I believe, to worn out eMMC storage.

    2) IMHO, from a security perspective, SMART TV's are terrible. IME the manufacturers stop providing any software updates, and when they do, they seldom publish any information about security vulnerabilities that they address.

If you want to browse the Internet using the TV, I would suggest attaching a micro-form factor PC to one of the display inputs and using that instead.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?
