I clicked a few buttons on the Amazon site and the next day (yesterday) a courier turned up at my house to collect them at no cost to me. Less than an hour after the courier had continued on his merry way Amazon had refunded me in full...No-one is perfect but in my experience Amazon's return policies are second to none.Every generation blames the one before...

That's definitely one for your bank (and local trading standards office). There's quite a long period where you can clawback via the bank (debit card guarantee as well as credit card guarantee) - I'd discuss it with them to see if they're willing to assist. Mine were very helpful when I explained the situation Most local trading standards offices are more-or-less useless. Councils have gutted them.[Deleted User] said:. And yet..... the problems are repeated in many areas - particularly around London. I had an interesting and enlightening chat over Christmas with a family friend whose job is recruiting drivers for Amazon and others. Apparently most drivers are lasting less than a month in the Southeast before quitting and the company has 25% more vacancies than it can fill. There are HUGE bonuses being paid out to recruiters for simply getting people to signup It's not just Amazon either. Most courier firms are desperate for drivers. The race to the bottom has destroyed pay/conditions to the point where many are having trouble retaining anyone for more than a couple of weeks and flakey drivers who "throw things over the gate" can't be sacked because then there would be no deliveries at all. None of this is particularly new. There's a story at my workplace where a couple of £20,000 items were sent out by DEC in the 1980s which never showed up - they were eventually found in the back of a courier van where they'd spent 3+ months rolling around because the location was slightly out of town and drivers simply couldn't be bothered.0 -
Hi, I've been able to see your previous threads by hovering and clicking on your user name, then on "Discussions".[Deleted User] said: (Edited)Hi Everyone sorry it has taken me a while to reply, I've not been well.
Any way its becoming clear that I'm not going to get my refund, contacting Amazon Custer service is a waste of time, they just don't care. I've closed my Amazon account as refuse to buy any thing else from a company that just steals people's money.
I accept I won't get a refund, I won't try doing a charge back as don't want to get in to any trouble with Amazon and have them demand money back, I can't be dealing with that, so that's over £200 lost so will just have to start saving again and buy else where when have the money.
It's not worth the hassle and its obviously acceptable and proper practice for them to steal money and refuse refund . I don't need to be dealing with this when I'm not well I need to be concentrating on my heath and getting better.
Thanks any way every one for your advice
I feel so sorry that you have had so many problems over the years.
I'm also so sorry that you've not been well.
Please contact your local council, they will allocate someone to advise and help you on a long term basis..
Also many area's have charity's that offer help and advocacy to help ensure your rights are upheld.

I have had the odd problem with deliveries from Amazon that isn't dealt with properly. I email the jeff@amazon.com email and with only one exception the situation has been sorted. Usually you get an initial scripted email that just shows they haven't even read your email, I then request they read my email, and usually its sorted at that point. One situation last year was quite maddening, but I kept it polite and it was sorted.
But closing your account means that the situation will never be dealt with. Normally when I make a return using a returns label through Amazon (doesn't happen too often but it has happened) I get a refund notice by the time I reach home again after taking the return to the post office.0 -
Think it's more the time of the year, I sent a mattress back on the 22nd December and usually with refunds I've had the money credited as soon as the package was picked up.
This time I didn't get it after 7 days so I chased and I got a refund today0 -

I can't buy a replacement until I get money back.
Having a spare £200 doesn't mean you have to be "super rich" i think that's the minimum anyone should have as an emergency fund.

Thanks any way every one for your adviceWhy would you just give up on £200 when it's obviosuly lot of money to you?You really need to pursue this and it doesn't take much effort to keep sending an email or two each day.0
