The OP also refers to the cost being refunded to their gift balance.  If payment was made part from the gift card balance and part from a debit card it may be complicating the refund.  They can only refund to the debit card the amount paid using it, not the entire amount.
As other have said, the thread title is inaccurate.  A refund has not been refused, it just hasn't been issued in the timescale the OP expects.
  • Hi Everyone sorry it has taken me a while to reply, I've not been well. Firstly the problem I had back in October was with wrong item being sent out cat food instead of rabbit food. I refused parcel and never did get refund, Amazon just kept refusing. Gave up in end.  Hope that answers question some one was asking about that.

Now it's been over 3 week since started return for coffee machine, they have had coffee machine just over 2 weeks now. Again as said before I have proof that they have received coffee machine both in form of tacking and screen shot of chat where Amazon customer representative admits that they have received coffee machine.

I still have received no refund, they still have not even began to process refund.

The refund policy clearly states the following "We will issue a refund, for a product shipped by Amazon, within a maximum of 14 days and confirm it with an automated e-mail."

    It also says "
After the carrier has received your item, it can take up to two weeks for us to receive and process your return."

They have had coffee machine just over 14days now. And the maximum of 14days have past.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable Wanting my refund.
Amazon sent out a dangerous faulty coffee machine that should not have been sold in first place, it's not my fault. But I'm the one out of pocket, I saved up hard for many months to be able to buy a that coffee machine. I needed the money back so I can buy a different coffee machine.  Not every one is super rich and has the money to just go and spend spend and spend again whilst waiting for a refund.

I can't buy a replacement until I get money back.

I spoke to a Amazon customer representative
again today and they again refused to process my refund told me again to contact them in another 14 days.

As far as im concerned my title is not misleading they are refusing to refund my money.

Would you be ok if you took something back to a shop as it was faulty and they took item back refused a replacement and told you to wait 14 days then come back with bank card and they will process refund. I'm sure most if not all of you would refuse to leave shop until they issued refund.

But my situation is no different they have had coffee machine back for just over 2 weeks and still have not even started processing my refund. And keep refusing to process refund. I would not mind waiting if I at least knew that it was being processed, I know it takes a while for money to go back on card, but it's not even started being processed, they keep refusing to process refund. Also when I started return I was promised a instant refund to gift balance as said in first message. So feel I've been constantly lied too.

Just to clarify I brought coffee machine straight from Amazon not a third party seller. When returned coffee machine amazon arranged for Hermes to collect and return to then, it was returned by Hermes and had full tracking.

Any way its becoming clear that I'm not going to get my refund, contacting Amazon Custer service is a waste of time, they just don't care. I've closed my Amazon account as refuse to buy any thing else from a company that just  steals people's money.
I accept I won't get a refund, I won't try doing a charge back as don't want to get in to any trouble with Amazon and have them demand money back, I can't be dealing with that, so that's over £200 lost so will just have to start saving again and buy else where when have the money.

It's not worth the hassle and its obviously acceptable and proper practice for them to steal money and refuse refund . I don't need to be dealing with this when I'm not well I need to be concentrating on my heath and getting better.

Thanks any way every one for your advice

  • Anyone spotting a common theme in problems with Amazon returns?
  • If you've decided to close your Amazon account anyway, why won't you do a chargeback?  If you've got evidence the machine has been returned* to Amazon, what have you got to lose?  Why throw away the possibility of getting £200 back?  That's daft.

(Just be careful you don't win a chargeback AND get a refund from Amazon).

    *  Amazon do accept they've received it, do they?  They aren't accusing you of returning something else, or an empty box, are they... ?

yes definitely worth a chargeback provided you are ***sure** they have received the machine back.

Only down side is Amazon may refuse if you try to open an account in the future.

Could they be checking the machine is faulty and not user error?

Well over a thousand products are sold on Amazon UK every single minute of the day so hundreds of millions of products sold each year. Based on threads here, the common theme I see is that the number of problems with Amazon is absolutely tiny compared to the number of orders they process...
Obviously it's frustrating and annoying for the OP and others when things go wrong but closing your account is an over-reaction that will only make your own life more difficult and will have a negligible affect on Amazon.
Every generation blames the one before...
