    Undo the waste fitting at the top and manually pour water down the pipe to see whether it flows normally, if not then you know you have a blockage either down around the u-bend or possibly beyond in the drain.

    It's fixed! There was a blockage beyond the u bend but before the outdoor drain, enough to let some water through but not all.

    Now that the problem is sorted, a tip - Paint the underside of your worktop with some oil based paint. Should you get another blockage, it shouldn't soak the chipboard. That stuff doesn't like to get wet and will swell up before disintegrating (takes a fair bit of water & time to happen).

    Of course there was, hate to state the obvious but a waste pipe thats has been flowing fine for years doesn't just stop working, there is always a blockage to stop it.
