Thank you for all your replies! I am torn between your suggestions of used iPhone (where to buy that’s reputable) and the Motorola ( though most of the ones I thought looked good are out of stock in Argos unfortunately). Going to consider both these and have a good look for either! I will be able to help him to some degree with the android system, I tend to pick things up fairly quick, though I anticipate it will do my head in when he keeps coming to me, phone in hand, saying “can you help me this?” 😂
Basic phone won’t do as he uses WhatsApp a lot (with a bit of help 😂)0 -
What are his next phones likely to be? Will a used iphone just be postponing the change, or are other family iphones likely to retire his way?

Despite the fact that iHate I phones, I don't see the need to change if he's already got an I pad and has used an I phone. You don't say what's wrong with the existing phone - would a simple 'factory reset' sort it out?2

Try your local Phone Fixit shop? They may be able to replace the battery for not a lot of dosh which (together with a factory reset) might give the old phone a new lease of life. Surely worth at least checking before splashing £100+ on a new phone?Jenni x2

I agree with some of the suggestions, the best switch would be an iPhone because he is used to it. Android or Windows would be new for him. However, if your budget is around £100, you can buy Nokia 1.4. its a great phone in that budget. Motorola Moto E5 is also good, you can check both of them out1

Our nearby phone repair shop fitted a new battery for my old iphone SE for £40. It's given it a new lease of life. I want to keep my phone for as long as possible. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker1

MSE_Chris said:Hi Annie,
We have a small feature on our Cheap Mobile Finder to help narrow down the huge choice of phones available. It sounds like your husband is pretty flexible if he's not tied into Apple.
You can find it here, it asks some basic questions about requirements and sorts by price.
You can then narrow down the options further (camera etc) using the filters on the left: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/phone-finder/#handsetfinder
I hope this helps,
