Hi all
We have a birthday to celebrate today so DH and I went to a favourite rural market town where they have a pub that does bargain meals. £5.99 each for curry, rice and naan and two coffees (making the most of free refills). Then a nice walk along the riverbank.
DH and I both have big birthdays this month and much to the shock of friends we have agreed not to buy presents for each other, we will put the money towards some camping breaks later in the year instead. I am more than happy with that.
I am seeing my brother and family tomorrow, so need to try and do that without spending.
Angela I like M&S Sports stuff, lasts really well and worth the money.
Hope no-one suffers any damage in these storms x11 -
Got petrol last night at Sainsbob and as a nice surprise there was a voucher for £3 off in shop as a thank you a bunch for shopping with us.
Very kind of them I thought!6 -
Hope everyone is coping in this extreme weather. Don't think I've ever seen a Met Office red alert in this area before but so far it's been extremely quiet, ours is from 10am to 3pm today and then yellow alert for wind tomorrow so the worst is yet to come. Stay safe and hope you all have power.7

Its wheeliebin-agedon where I am. We are only on an amber warning but it was bin day today! They keep getting blown out into the road and I've gone out 2 or 3 times now to rescue different bins and prevent an accident!

It's been pretty bad here, storm Eunice is the worst I can remember, all council services postponed or closed so no Wheelie Bin collection this morning, flood alerts and warnings not to travel, danger to life etc.. Loads of fence panels down in most of the gardens, thankfully I have garden walls. Waiting to see if it's a temporary lull before I venture into the back garden. Hopefully no roof tiles or any other damage but I'm not risking it to check. The strangest bit is the sun has been shining all the way through. I was expecting torrential rain!.8

Next door,s shed roof has just disappeared onto the horizon
Reminds me of the great hurricane of 1980 for which we never had a proper storm warning. I left all my washing out to dry overnight on my rotary airer. It was all ripped off and dispersed around the area. Never did have the nerve to go enquiring after my lost underwear. And the rotary airer was crushed by slates which were ripped from the roof.
Should be a bumper period for fencing contractors, tree surgeons and builders though so every pocket has a silver lining!7 -
Our neighbours fence panels have ended up in our garden in the winds. There are 2 of the original panels still standing but looking very sorry for themselves! Two new panels were put in early December and one of those is also in our garden!
Our neighbours the other way had a small fence between their house and the fence between our properties and that ended up in our front garden.
We haven't actually lost any of our fence panels (we replaced the whole fence last year) but have plenty of both neighbours in our garden!
