Well this was a first for me. Our car insurance renewal is due on the 28th of jan. I did a comparison and because I only passed my test last month the new quotes we were given were obviously a lot more then we paid last year which I was expecting. The cheapest quote was £435. When I passed I got added on to the policy we already had. The renewal quote has come in and they are asking for £341 so instead of switching I will save nearly £100 to stay with Tesco insurance. I'm happy with that.
We went for a nice walk along the seafront this afternoon and then I popped to lidl to spend my £10 reward from the app. Came out with a big bag full and it only cost me 85p. The only thing they didn't have was blue milk so will need to go to asda tomorrow.13 -
Hi everyone,
I'm very very new here but will be joining you to be a lot more frugal this year.
Little introduction, I am soon going to be moving out of the house I share with my partner taking my 2 kids with me, 1 is an adult, the other a teenager.
I will be moving into a new town and have secured a rental for 9 months and will look to buy somewhere before the end of the tenancy.
I'd like to be more mindful of my spending so that I can save up a sizeable deposit.
I'm really looking forward to moving and starting fresh in a new town.24 -
Evening all@EcoIntent I hope it works well for you. I've got some yeast sat in the bottom of the fridge so I'll try adding a sprinkle to my next one when I start it. I sliced up the stale remains and popped them in the oven earlier to crisp up and use as crackers, unfortuantely I forgot about them til they'd been on for over 2 hours and they were extremely overdone! In the bin they went but next time i'll try againI had my leftover soup for lunch, delicious it was too. Another no spend day. Did a bit of decluttering, and have a couple of items to list on Olio to get them out of my way.9

Food from stores and no money spent, not even sure the shops are open yet. My purse will be firmly shut for a while I hope, as I would like to get through this week and the beginning of next week before the moths can escape!!

Hi all
Busy day getting ready for the paid stuff tomorrow and taking down the Christmas decorations. We did have to call at Li@l as we were out of bread/fruit and veg but we made a list and stuck to it. Soup made for lunches, just needs blending a bit. Washing dried outside, some needs finishing off but it will go on the airer in front of the fire before bed. I need to remember to take my library books with me when I go into the office tomorrow, I will swap them for new ones.
Dont think I am going to be able to cycle in to work this week as its going to be very cold so there is a risk of ice, and very windy. I will keep an eye on the forecast, I am only in two days this week anyway.
Good luck with the new start Bookworm, sounds exciting.14 -
Took everything out of freezer yesterday. Mental inventory done because it's mostly meat. I know we have enough for months 'cos we don't eat a tremendous amount. The test is not to buy any wonderful bargains. Abundance, abundance, abundance. Gotta keep talking to myself..................
Batch cooked bolognese sauce today.
Going to face my debts tomorrow with experian.
Happy frugaling to all

So much to read and catch up on - youve all been so busy! As I'm working nights most of this week, I'll be tackling things in dribs and drabs during my waking hours, as my body feels like I have jet lag ATM.
A major decision to sell my car has been made, so I need to spruce it up ready for prospective buyers, which I will do this weekend. I'll use any sale money to buy a polycrub to extend my growing season in the kitchen garden, then fling the rest at debt. I also should make a freezer, pantry and cupboards inventory, as we have to much food stashed.
