@RateTartExtraodinaire : cocoa butter has many uses, not just as a food, but also (for instance) skin care. A quick google will help you.

I am going to start a cash book to track spends as well.  This will work better for me than a spreadsheet.  I've never been very good at tracking spends so I'll see how this goes.  The new cash book (a notebook) will sit in the kitchen and OH can add to it too.

Back from visiting Family for NY and really excited to start my new frugal year - glad I have virtual people who understand this as certainly none of my 'real' friends would! 😂

Frugal things to continue with:
-Daily checking bank app and savings, this helps me stay on track and keeps me motivated

-Tilly Tidying/PAD to savings pots

-Careful use of power - heating and most lights off when 8yo goes to bed. Retreat to kitchen to work or bed to read (with electric blanket if chilly ☺️) 

-Save waste water from kitchen for plants/garden 

-Batch cooking/meal planning

-NOT bulk buying toiletries, using every single bit and only replacing when completely necessary. 

-One savings pot for 'me' to treat myself to odd coffee out/new plant etc. That way I don't feel too deprived but I HATE taking money out of pots so it helps me decide if I really want the treat or not. 

New Frugal goals:
-Ambitious savings goal (investment with Bro)

-Grocery challenge (Jan but ongoing if I can)

-Joined Olio, it's busy round here but stuff goes quick and I'm not very flexible so we'll see if it's useful or not. 

I just cannot bring myself to set a yearly budget but maybe one day I'll be in that place. 

Right! Off to clear out/audit my spices and set a toiletries budget. Happy Frugalling!

Collected my first Olio today, a bag of carrots, a whole meal loaf, wholewheat Pitta’s and some rolls for burgers tonight. It was very easy to use and I’m going to sign up to be a distributor as there is only one locally and she can only do 2 collections a week. 

I’ve frozen the loaf and pittas. 

Have a lovely Bank Holiday

Could we have a monthly frugal challenge? Maybe Fix-it February where the aim is to sort things that need repairing. Make-it March , Anticipate-April - plan for big spends, hols and Christmas. Mend-it May, Join in June, ? July, Ample August, Spend it September (controversial!), Out with the old October, Nothing New November and Delicious December?

How do find being a volunteer ?
 I've signed up ,but yet to commit to start collecting  

Hi go on the app,click on the 3 lines top right hand corner and go to volunteer hub to see if any available near you,You will have to do a few quizes but nothing taxing,

Thanks for reminding me about Tesco one Nannygladys, Ive just exchanged some Tesco vouchers for a rail card , which saved me a fortune  and free tickets for a ride on the London Eye when i went on holiday recently

I use my Tesco CC for everything and pay off at the end of the month.  I tend to use my points for Eurotunnel tickets.  @nannygladys is right that it's a point for every £1 spent in Tesco but you also get £1 for each £8 spent (but not part thereof!).  You also get 1 point for every £8 at other places.  Points definitely don't add up as quickly as they used to!

Recently i went to London , Dont know if anyone knows, but if anyone is registered disabled / recieving PIP , that kind of thing ,   A lot of places , like the Theatres.,  London Eye etc , give you a Buy one Get One Free ticket, Its worth asking at  ANY venues you are planning to go to if they do it .  ( I know National Trust places do it )  , Saves a lot of money
