I have actually managed an under 3 mins shower. ( giving self a pat on the back
) I did not wash my hair in this event. I am painful at enjoying such an event by day dreaming about anything and nothing in particular. It is an electric shower and an old one at that, it does not say what the wattage is on it so no idea of the costings. It is miserly with the water so not too worried about that albeit we put the plug in usually as a guide of time and the amount of water used. We are on a water meter, there are times I wish we weren't but the difference to rateable is definitely worth it.
We have a large water storage unit that is fed off the shed roof - it is a big expansion for a back garden. I thought 250 litres would be big enough - apparently not! It is also white and not a dark colour so algae has grown, turns out that a measured amount of bleach( 1tsp to 5 litres) can be used to kill it off, it was a cheap general domestic bleach so no special costings involved. Inadvertently my calculations were wrong and I used what was left in a bottle. Turned out to be the correct amount I got DH to make a paddle to stir it and this morning we are a clear colour in the water. We have also added a filter (came off an old hoover) to catch the leaf debris to help reduce matter getting in there in the first place.
If anyone else has any tips on keeping water please let me know.

I've had a couple of frugal unpleasant days by not being well, the not eating but spending quite a lot of time In the bathroom variety, so no food eaten and mainly water drank but very cheap!!! Feeling much better now but there has to be better ways to be frugal

We have discovered a frugal way around having a treat. I’m sure most people know about it but it’s new to us & we’re pleased about it! On the top of McDonald’s receipts is a code, and if you answer a few questions with that code you get a Big Mac/veggie burger and chips for £1.99 - this is proving a really economical way to feel like we aren’t being deprived of a treat whilst spending only £2 each.13

Liking the tips on having a cheap treat. I’ve found over the last few months that I enjoy the pub just as much without alcohol. A pint of coke isn’t all that cheap but it’s cheaper than booze, I only want one and more significantly it means I drive instead of maybe getting a taxi. Hardly earth shattering stuff but it’s helping me save here.My other guilty cheap treat is the 30p cooking chocolate from Tescos, I break a few squares off to have at a time and spread with cheap peanut butter (crunchy). So tasty and hardly costs anything compared to buying something like a snickers.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

Gill blue and nannyg - hope you are both feeling better now.
I think lime and soda is one of the cheapest drinks in a pub - i paid £1 for a pint last time I bought one - very refreshing with plenty of ice.11 -
thanks blackcapts, I am improving.
