Bosch washing machine - garbage

We had a slimline Bosch dishwasher in this house when we bought it. Discovered it was brand new unused when we completed (probate property, elderly owner was persuaded to have a dishwasher by her son but looks like she carried on washing up by hand). It packed up after about 15 months use. Spoke to a repairman, gave him the model number and code and he said that the one we had was built in Spain, there had been many problems with that series of numbers and he couldn't guarantee that if he repaired it it would last very long. We bought a secondhand Bosch as a temporary replacement. The shelves are a tad rusty in places but it's fine apart from that. Have previously owned 2 slimline Bosch's and both lasted years. I gave one away in the end as I'd kept it in case the other packed up and it never did.

Our Bosch washing machine was nearly 20 years old when it started to rattle. We were going to replace it with another Bosch - but I read that the new models weren't as good as the old.
Went for Miele in the end. Got a good deal on a washing machine and matching dryer by buying them direct from Miele. Deal included free fitting and the removal and disposal of our old washing machine and dryer.0 -

We've always gone for cheapo Indesit-type W/Ms, as they do the job fine and seem to last ok.MIL, however, is always one for a 'name', so when she moved in it had to be Bosch or Smeg... Bosch it was, and it's been perfectly fine, and is quiet in operation. When a large puddle ended up over our kitchen floor recently, I took the back panel off to try and trace the source (and failed completely), but I recall thinking that the materials - the panel steel, and stuff - was both thicker and better finished than the previous Indesit. I wouldn't call it 'cheap' - it all looked decent quality to me.Anyhoo, found a 1 Euro coin in the pipe just before the drain pump, and a hairband around the actual impeller... I cannot work out how this could have caused the flood, but it 'must' have as it's now fine again.Pretty sure I saw Made in Turkey on the label, but - as said above - that's no indication of build quality as the actual 'spec' will be Bosch's, and I'm sure the Turks can assemble just as well as us Brits.0
