Bosch washing machine - garbage

I was thinking, 'Oh I'll get a high quality Bosh German washing machine, they're reliable'. Our Mile lasted 20 years, surely they're similar.
Well no, the thing is garbage. It breaks down, then breaks, then breaks.
The lowest quality parts.
This month it broke again.
The cheapest, poorest quality parts, with a fancy label on the front.
I'll be on the floor tomorrow, fixing it again, after a part just broke. Perhaps it was made from Playdough.
Of course its out of warranty, and as I ddn't spend more than the thing is worth on Bosch engineers, they won't have anything to do with fixing it.
I don't know if others have had this experience, but a high quality German engineering it ain't.

Not that similar in price tags, which must have been a clue. I've had my Bosch washing machine for around 14 years, I had to replace the door handle as a part snapped, but otherwise it still works fine.t8769 said:Oh I'll get a high quality Bosh German washing machine, they're reliable'. Like most things these, very likely to be made in China or Turkey.0

Bosch make a lot of their washing machines and fridge freezers in Spain and Poland. I can't remember which type of appliance, is made in which country.penners324 said:Like most things these, very likely to be made in China or Turkey.0 -
Remember that you are comparing a newer Bosch with an older Miele. It is quite possible that both have succumbed to cost pressures and reduced quality over the years. I have two Bosch washing machines - a 1999 purchase in house A and a 2005 purchase in house B, both have been faultless ever since.2

Our AEG washing machine died about 4 years ago and after about 15 years use we were happy for another, but looked at others, including Bosch as we had a Bosch dishwasher and tumble dryer.
We were advised if we wanted a Bosch washing machine buy a Siemens as Bosch quality has reduced over the years to compete at a slightly lower price level. Took their word for it and no issues with the entry level Siemens we bought.0 -
We have a Samsung washer bought about three years ago after our Siemens died, it rattled and shook like mad despite levelling the feet ect, no problem I thought as when we do our kitchen I can sort it then, nope still rattled and shook, I solved it though by buying some pipe lagging and jamming it either side and pushing it in far enough so it can’t be seen ( it’s not built in), it’s still not as quiet as it should be but it’s so much better, would I buy another Samsung, no, but not sure what when the time comes….0

I don't think it really matters where the machines are built, be it Turkey, Poland, Germany etc, they'll all have the same manufacturing standards but if they're built to a budget and even tighter margins then this is what will let them down.Thomas_Crown said:

Agreed. I have a Bosch washing machine and dishwasher, both over 20 years old and both still going strong. The only thing I've had to do with the washing machine was replace the motor brushes but that was over 10 years ago.Apodemus said:Remember that you are comparing a newer Bosch with an older Miele. I had the same thought process when buying our Siemens washing machine. 2 months after the warranty expired, the drum stopped turning. Took the back off to find that the bolt holding the pulley on the back of the drum had wound out. Also found a sticker in there, “made in China” - make of that what you will.t8769 said:I was thinking, 'Oh I'll get a high quality Bosh German washing machine, they're reliable'. Put the bolt back in with a health dose of loctite and have had no other issues to be fair. The thing is super quiet so must be fairly well engineered I guess, just perhaps not very well put together. Time will tell…0 -
Many companies buy many products from many other companies and put their names on them. They often buy different quality machines from different places. When I worked in the business we'd buy quality dishwashers from Bosch for the top of our range, the mid range dishwashers were made in house and the lower price ones wee bought from Spain of France.
I now have a newish Bosch & my friend has the same machine with Siemens written on the front, both made in Spain and both pretty poor quality.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
