  • If you do get one, just follow the advice on this forum. Ultimately you will still have the chance to put the case on hold while you assess all the evidence and then decide if you want to pay up or fight it.

Considering that a loss in court is likely to cost you no more than paying up though, it's a no brainer imo.
I just don’t want it going to court, do they normally attempt it for small amount on one occasion? It was initially £60, I thought the letters would stop after 2/3 attempts but this is getting worse!

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Unless you play the game you are more likely than not to get a judgment in default for the full amount they are claiming. But, you need a court claim coming your way first. Keep playing the game - all steps, no short cuts.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I’ve seen a few people get letters before claim after this and I don’t want to risk that.

I believe they can now take you to court so I don’t want to risk that even if I can defend it.

What is the irrational fear of 'going to court'?

Do you realise that any hearing will be just a telephone call?

Here is a video about a typical small claims court hearing as they used to be before Covid...
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=n93eoaxhzpU

Nowadays, that 'informality' is even more informal - if it can be - as it will just be a telephone call with three people discussing a mutual problem.

I guess it’s the anxiety talking... because I won’t have anything to defend and they can easily win. I didn’t appeal or anything and just kept ignoring them. I can’t deal with the constant threatening letters so I’m tempted to pay it....

What do you reckon I do now? Shall I ignore the letter and write to my MP and report to the SRA... or shall I respond to the letter?

OK, what do you think will happen if you lose?

I'll answer that by saying that the Judge will order you to pay an amount to the Claimant.
That amount will substantially less than they are claiming if you go through the process that is fully explained here and file a Defence.
If you pay what the Judge orders within the timescale allowed then that is the end of the matter. There is no lasting County Court Judgment, aka CCJ. There is no other record kept about the saga.

It's a no brainer. Defend and you will probably pay nothing - with the caveat that if you do end up paying something it will be much less than they're asking for.

It's  just a phone call; almost like an appeal by phone.  Of course you don't give in to scams.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Trust what others have said.  With the way covid is going, it is going to take a long time to be heard and that will be by phone or video.  Right now, all you have received is a letter from CST saying DRP have instructed them ?

You now know that DRP cannot instruct them

THE STORY HAPPENING TO YOU SO FAR .....
1: You ignored CP PLUS..... so what
2: CP PLUS passed it to DRP who are just circus clowns ... you were right to ignore them
3: DRP and CST are bed fellows so what a wheeze to scare you and send a legal letter
4: This is not a court letter, it is an extortion letter hoping you are a mug.

CST LAW ... AKA CREDIT STYLE are already under investigation by the SRA

CP PLUS have not instructed CST, this is a scam wheeze between DRP and CST
CP PLUS have been using another law firm called DCBL and to honest they do not do very well.

Unless you like responding to scammers, then you ignore that letter as junk mail.

Sometime in the New year, you may hear more but it will not be CST being instructed by DRP...... that is cloud dreaming

If you do get a court claim then come back here. The members on here are far smarter than these people

DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY THESE MONEY WARRIORS

And so you know, not long ago CST on behalf of UKPC, another scammer, bombarded Scotland with the same rubbish ... "instructed by DRP"

All hell was let loose by Scottish MP's and all of a sudden the CST rubbish stopped.

We will not tolerate such rubbish in England and Wales  and that is why your MP must be told what CST and DRP are up to ... it's a money scam
