TAX RETURN - Who is Liable?

Hi, I was wondering, if I was to manage an Air Bnb listing for a property that isn't mine, would I need to submit the tax return or the owner?
The Air Bnb account would be under my name and the payouts would go to my account where I would then split the earnings 50% and give what is owed to the owner but if the account and payout details are all mine, does this mean I need to declare the entire earnings as my own, even if I am splitting it 50%?

You are responsible for reporting your income and paying your income tax and the property owner is responsible for theirs.MC2986 said:Hi, I was wondering, if I was to manage an Air Bnb listing for a property that isn't mine, would I need to submit the tax return or the owner?

There isn't a written contract no0

Then you need to get one. You'll both need to report your respective earnings, but without a contract you could end up in a right pickle: what if the owner discovers they cannot run such a business (mortgage / tenancy issues)? what if the owner wants to stop the arrangement, how much notice do you need?MC2986 said:There isn't a written contract noSignature removed for peace of mind0 -
The other thing to consider is that as far as HMRC is concerned, it's your AirBnb account & money is going into your bank account.
without a written agreement I'd like to see you try and argue that you should only be liable for tax on 50% of the amount.1 -
