In-store sofa purchase

Hi there,

We recently purchased a sofa in store at Fabb furniture, but realised I had mismeasured and it will not fit. The purchase was on interest free credit so I have the right to withdraw from that, but it will not cancel the order I believe, and Fabb state no cancellations, at which I did sign but thought that the cooling off period would cover me.

Is there anything I can do to cancel this order?

Thank you
Craig

As it's an instore purchase, you are relying on thier own store policy because all sales in store are final.

From their website, so it isn't looking good

What happens if I place an order and change my mind or it won’t fit in my room?
For all online orders please check our money back guarantee: Money Back Guarantee. Items which are made to your specification cannot be returned. We have a no cancellations policy for orders placed in-store.

All you can do it try talking nicely to them and see if they will agree to the purchase of a different sofa.

Yes they MAY allow you to purchase a smaller sofa instead - that is probably your only way out. In fact, I would suspect sofa stores see this problem more often that you'd think.
  • Be very charming and apologetic in your approach, in the hope they'll let you trade it for a different model or size.  If they don't wish to exercise some goodwill, your best bet is to try and sell it privately.

As above, you have no rights to a full refund but Fabb should not charge you more than their reasonable costs incurred by you ordering and then cancelling, which is certainly not the full cost of the furniture.

What did you pay, what date did you place the order and what date did you cancel?

According to Fabb's T&C's there is no right to cancel an order made in store.  Whether that is legal or not I don't know.

Where did you get that nonsense from? All purchases made in store are final.

Indeed, it happened to me some time ago (sofa made it up the stairs but not into the flat). Shop very kindly took it back and gave us a full credit against an alternative. But no obligation on them to do so.
