Emergency phone for kids
Hi, hopefully one of you clever people can help... we would like our children to carry a phone for emergency use only (they are 7 and 9 and we don't want them using for other purposes until we can resist no further!). The last time we bought a pay as you go phone we were able to just load say £5 of credit and then would pay per call and text and the credit lasted indefinitely. We recently bought a simple pay as you go phone from Argos and were hoping to load it with a small credit balance but we can only seem to find monthly PAYG 'contracts' now which give an amount of usage that then expires at the end of the month which is not what we want. Has anyone therefore got any ideas how we can achieve an emergency phone for the kids without paying out each month? Many thanks

Best Pay as you go Sim Deals: Compare the best offers - MSE (moneysavingexpert.com) has some ideas. It looks like Asda or 3 might be a possible.

To be aware, some "feature" (aka "dumb") phones use the 2G band only. Means that they will not be able to use the Three network (or any of it's MVNOs).1

you can also get an EE sim with a bundle and then text stop pack to 150 to switch it to normal payg.0
