We are hoping to go to Finland but its looking increasingly unlikely that we will be able to travel as a result of this, is there anywhere we can get the return to travel kits by Saturday 18th December or will we have to for go our holiday as a result of this?
Any reason why you dont want to just get a local test in Finland?

It seems a very British thing about ordering the tests to take with you... look at trip advisor etc and all the US people are just buying local tests at their destination. Certainly coming back from latin america earlier in the year the local lat flow test was much cheaper than any of the "take with you" options from the UK.
Except France (around €26), I haven't paid more than about £15 for a test abroad.

I'm not sure why people are taking tests with them either as this makes no sense to me, however in multiple posts about this it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Really depends on 2 things, price and availability locally and a desire to be in control of your own destiny.

Going to Madeira we used the local service that offers one free LFT to everyone.

In St Lucia tests arranged by the hotel were more expensive than taking our own and the results took longer as certificates were all issued in the evening.

the desire to remain in control means that if you were abroad and tested positive you could arrange your own place to isolate rather than be at the whim of official requirements. Sometime it could mean that after a positive result you could retest when you wished.

Having done both methods, I would always take our own tests in future. Knowing you are negative within 15-30 minutes is reassuring.

Can anyone confirm day 2 test is not actually test on day 2 on arrival.

It is any time after you land in UK until end of day 2(arrival day count as day 0). But I have to self isolate until I have confirmed negative day 2 pcr test???

Day 2 or before, you can take the test on day 0 but must isolate until the result is back. Due to this I recommend an on site test with guaranteed 3 hour/next day result such as Collinson.

Yes that’s correct . It’s aPCR Arrival test you take on arrival in the U.K. (Day 2 is the latest you can take it. )

If you are fully vaccinated you must quarantine  at the place you are staying until you get a negative result.

If you are not fully vaccinated you must quarantine  at the place you are staying for 10 days and take 2x PCR tests ( Day 2 & Day 8 )

Use one of the drive through places - Eurofins at LHR is one of the best. I’ve used it a couple of times, £36 and if it’s before midday then you get the results the same day.
