Rather than getting the solicitor to keep the will, deposit it with the Probate Registry. Store a will with HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
That way no-one has to start looking for the alternative solicitor's business if the one that wrote your will closes. And you'd have no idea how good or bad the successor might be.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing2 -

i have plenty of things to look into.
I've no idea what I'm going to do if my friend passes away before me.
My options are limited. possibly pass onto her children and various charities.
