These are just a gimmick - throw it away and take readings on the meter itself from time to time.
Like any tool they can be more use to some than others.

If you only use it for occasional meter readings then you may as well unplug it now.

If you actually use all of its capabilities on a daily basis then it will be far more than a ‘gimmick’…

The OP could install the BRIGHT app on their phone and get their usage history from that.
Do you mean this one https://brightenergy.com/ni/faqs/mybrightaccount If so, will it work for me as I am an EON Next customer.

If you have a SMETS meter try this link to Hildebrand's Bright app
  • I really can’t believe anyone would raise a complaint over a faulty IHD which are usually unreliable anyway. I bet the advisor in the end if the phone is sat there, eyes rolling, saying ‘here we go again!’
not helpful I know but just read the actual meter as it’s far more reliable .
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)

I really can’t believe anyone would raise a complaint over a faulty IHD ...
And I can't believe anyone would be arguing (least of all on the MSE forum) that a consumer should just put up with being supplied with goods that are not of satisfactory quality.
    Yet here we are.

As my IHD also gives me my meter readings, how this piece of equipment is (for me) a waste of time, I fail to understand?

Better still, employ someone to read it for you..... wait, that's a backward step in tech...

Thank you so much to swipe and glennevis.  You have saved me about £70 (and the rest)  I had to pop the back off the in house display, but the app is now picking up both meters.  Thank you again have a great Christmas.  This will really help me to makes those extra savings like I did last winter.

IHDs can and do freeze, lockup, lose connection, etc, and in these cases the reported readings will be incorrect. If yours does not then bonus, but typically it's more reliable just going to the meter itself and taking a photo - plus you then get the bonus of saving energy because you don't have to have the IHD connected :D
