We were always in favour of independent local vets that had a reliable out of hours service when we had pets. When we first moved out to where we live now and still had HRH the Cat we initially registered with the in-house practise of a well known chain. They were perfectly OK until the time we rang mid evening on a Saturday after madam had returned with a gaping wound on her head, and clearly quite groggy with it - after repeatedly trying to get through on the out of hours number we finally got through only to be told in disinterested tones that no, there was no cover, and we'd need to wait until the morning...understandably we were furious as they'd always made a big thing of a 24 hour service! Thankfully our previous vets with their wonderful veterinary hospital were far more helpful and we ended up driving her ladyship the 20 miles there instead that night. She was fine, but we changed vets surgery the very moment we could register with a local independent!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I don't think there are any totally independent ones left here - they all seem to be linked to at least one other practice. I refuse to even go near the store of a certain chain who turned us away when big cat was dying, so since then they've been going to the one on the same site as the out of hours practice that does have a hospital service - that way I know they're well linked, and if they have to go in overnight then they don't have to be moved. But I will find out what the nearest one does about overnight admission as it would be much easier for most appointments.EssexHebridean said:We were always in favour of independent local vets that had a reliable out of hours service when we had pets. Small things tracking...
- Mortgage application documents all uploaded, ready to check with advisor tomorrow
- One lot of clothes returns done - another still to post
- Checked with local vet and they use the same out of hours service - so would potentially save time and money on anything during normal hours, just need to check costs and best timing if we drop out of the payment plan with current day practice.
- Have continued to avoid takeaways for me
- Picked up some yellow sticker stuff in M&S just before closing so that has gone in the freezer. Plenty in there now including some easy options so hopefully that will keep helping with less takeaway costs.

Van loan is PAID, hurrah! Already showing on the account as cleared so that has now been printed and the debit cancelled, and the YNAB lines closed and hidden!Mortgage application submitted.Found a refurbished robot hoover-and-mop which has been on my wish list for ages and was 1/3 cheaper than new... saving over £100... so have ordered it. Not a totally planned spend but didn't want to miss the deal and it will be great to have most of the hoovering sorted without much active effort from me.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

I should be thanking you for the hoover, I was checking to see what they cost these days before I suggested one to you when I spotted it! (still a dozen left if you do want one!)Buffythedebtslayer said:Congrats on the van loan! XXX
