Well you can find the former Directors and their contact addresses on companies house. you could always try writing to them for an explanation! 🤣Theft is theft at the end of the day. Or is this another government organised shambles.0

I’m getting so frustrated with this. I’ve also been moved from PE to BG. This month my first payment has gone out to BG, and PE owe me over 300 pounds (that’s what I’m in credit at the moment). I keep checking BG FAQs and every time they update the info about credit it says they’re still in talks with administrators and it may take another FOUR TO SIX WEEKS. I’m a single person houshold and cannot adopted to be out of pocket for so long. Extremely frustrating!0

I am also with BG having been with PE. I had no final bill with PE and now have my first bill with BG but no mention of my credit on leaving PE. This should be around £200. Am I right in thinking I could ask British Gas for £30 in compensation in not getting me my credit back within six weeks given I think it was in September when PE folded?0

You have credit with PE which will be applied to your BG account in due course.N6P6 said:Am I right in thinking I could ask British Gas for £30 in compensation in not getting me my credit back within six weeks given I think it was in September when PE folded?N. I've also been switched from People Energy to British Gas. I took screen shots of balance on PE on day of transfer, took regular meter readings which I have been logging in spreadsheet etc. There has been no bill from PE since September, BG have given me no bills, I am unable to set up DD as it says I need to send another meter reading, but when I go to do a manual meter reading it says I cant do it as my "smart" meter does it for me... I have a version1 smart meter from years ago, I'm not sure if its working properly. I don't want it to come to Jan/Feb and be stuck with a £1000 bill...Mtg May 2011 - £127,500/825610% CC - £2211/2211Argos Card 0% - £253.95/208.950

Hi All
I am tearing my hair out about Peoples Energy/British Gas Switch. PE are still taking direct debit payments from me although I have been with British Gas since 4th November. Both British Gas, Peoples Energy and Ofgem advice is to not cancel your direct debit. But who can afford to pay twice for gas & electric? Also, my Credit Balance with Peoples Energey which was a healthy £300 depletes by approx £5 per day - even now - when I have been with British Gas for 8 weeks but still paying direct debits to Peoples Energy.
I have spoken to Alverex & Marsal the administrators for Peoples Energy and they are saying it may take up to 3 months from NOW (december 23rd) for credit and debit balances, direct debits and all customer details to be transferred to British Gas but I should continue to pay my direct debit every month. What!!!!
I have spoken to Citizens Advice Energy who state the process of the switch should run seamlessly and she advised me to cancel my direct debit as otherwise I could be waiting forever.
I feel I am absolutely powerless to protect my money and the information from British Gas, Peoples Energy and Ofgem is worse than useless. They alll say to not cancel your direct debit - but how long should we pay two companies for.
Has anyone got any ideas on who we can contact about this. MY 90 year old father has just paid £350 to british gas and £150 to Peoples Energy - a nice £500 for a montns utility bills. It's disgraceful.

But who can afford to pay twice for gas & electric? You should not be paying twice as BG were planning to move your DD from PE to themselves as soon as possible, at which point you would be paying BG not PE and any money you've paid to PE would be included in the balance details PE provide to BG for your new account...If you have already set up a new DD with BG then you really should cancel the PE DD...or if you are worried that the final bill from PE will not be produced until after your first quarterly bill from BG is created then again, you can cancel the DD.It is only their advice not to cancel as it makes sure people don't get behind with payments and it makes for a smooth transition if they can just transfer the DD, but they cannot require it.

It's disgraceful.Ofgem’s rationale for the SoLR process is solely one of keeping the lights on when a supplier fails. The alternative is that the lights go out whilst consumers switch to a new supplier with those affected lodging a claim for the refund of a credit balance with the expectation of getting back a few pence in the £ many months later.
That said, the present process was put together on the assumption that there might be an occasional supplier failure not a mass cull because of extraordinary market forces: it undoubtedly needs to looked at again. You could write to your MP but I suspect that you will get a ‘cut ‘n’ paste’ response back from The Energy Minister who will no doubt hold to the party line that the SoLR process is running seamlessly and credits are fully protected by Ofgem.1
