Canary Islands covid test kits are running out!

Lots of clinics do not have any test kits, mine has told me to try again at 11am tomorrow. How can I get home if I cannot get a test?

Please advise Martin of this situation.

Thanks.

  • I haven’t read of any problems on the Tenerife holiday forums, are you on Facebook? if so there’s a few groups to join.
If not where are you staying? I could post on there on your behalf to try to get some help for you.
  • Martin doesn't live here anymore.

Is he holidaying on the island as well?
  • @Fortyfoot , has the situation been resolved?  please report back to help others. Thank you
  • Might sound daft but could you take NHS test kits with you and ask the clinic to use them? After all, its the same kit as the clinics in Tenerife use. All you want is the result from the clinic in your email or on a document.
  • Government has been quite clear from outset that free NHS tests MUST NOT be used for International Travel - using them for a purpose other than they are issued for is considered THEFT.

Presumably the OP got their test and got home again, given the lack of further "I couldn't get on my flight, what do I do now"  posts.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

A lot easier now, Spain not prepared for Doris' stupid actions.
In Lanzarote tests were 20 to 30e. I read that they are 35e in Tenerife.

Had to pay £43 for PCR test when we got home.

A typical dithering Doris rip off.

I'd prefer everyone is tested before flying, especially with new variants flying, than not.

I think we agree that the system is not fit for purpose, but the British government has been clear it wants to test for variants and to give it credit is continuing to do so. I am currently unable to come up with a better solution, so if you are able to do so writing to your MP may help.
