They will never expire completely. You will be able to exchange them at BOE. They still accept white fivers.

Just in case you're actually being serious, it's obviously fake news and nothing to do with the government anyway, so best avoid TikTok as a source of 'news', and rely instead on credible sites like https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/polymer-20-pound-note7 -

I lost interest when I read TikTok!

If you're at all concerned, why not just bank any which have at your nearest branch or Post Office? Not a stellar idea to be sitting on piles of cash.

I was trying to spend a paper £20 a few weeks ago in a shop and the woman was adamant that they had stopped accepting them and wouldn't take it at first. After I insisted, she then proceeded to look it up in an attempt to prove me wrong ,on facebook of all places, as she told me that where originally found out that they had stopped taking them. it was taking a long time and I said why don't you just google it, and she did and then finally accepted the old £20!
and to answer the question, 30th Sept 2022 is when shops will stop accepting them. after that you need to take them to a bank1 -
My reading of the bank of England website is that the polymer notes aren't slated to be withdrawn from circulation. Or have I misunderstood the intent of the original post and/or the bank of England website?

Even if it was past the date, most banks will still allow them to be deposited into your account so isn't the end of the world if you don't spend them.0
