Before anyone asks i am planning to get the electrician in but they are currently busy to visit.
My question i have a 6mm cable running from a 32amp fuse on the consumer board that used to power a shower, the shower has since been removed and the cable is now just lying above the kitchen ceiling with black tape on it.
Could i use this cable to hardwire a 16amp oven in the kitchen?

No you need 10mm. I'm not an electrician though
I am not a cat (But my friend is)2 -
As above, you'd need more than 6mm cable. A shower can run on 6mm as it's only on for short bursts. An oven could be on for a few hours at a time so there's a risk of the cable overheating.1

ah well that puts a blocker to that plan then thanks for the help0

Could i use this cable to hardwire a 16amp oven in the kitchen? Are you just talking about an oven or a cooker ?An electric oven will normally be wired to a 3 pin plug & go into a normal socket , if you want to use the 6mm cable as a supply for a wall socket you're fine if a little overkill & will fuse at 16aIf it's to supply a cooker you'll also be fine but a cooker terminal box & isolator will need fitting & fused at 32a.

Some ovens are designed to be used with normal 13 amp sockets but Bengalknights is referring to a 16amp oven that perhaps needs an appropriately rated power supply.
Bengalknights, you need advice from a qualified electrician.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".3 -
It was 16amp Neff oven i was looking at quick chat with the electrician and he said should not be problem as its not drawing over 3.5kw and 6mm is rated at double that so will see what he says when he comes to visit next month (and hopefully create a power point for a oven).1

Simple calculator here...https://www.clevelandcable.com/cable-calculator/
But best to err on the side of caution so I usually add a bit to the load.1 -
6mm cable is ok for 16amp it is rated between 23 & 32amp depending on how its fitted ie if it runs in conduit etc
